Thanks for this great start of Volume XVI Michael! Wow, it is hard to believe it would come that far when you started the first Volume, initially even without a Volume number! And your invitation works well. So welcome Lisa with your great entrance in this thread! I hope you enjoy the abstracts in B&W that will  follow and hope also to see more from you.

Thanks Keelin and what about lucky sightings? You managed to capture a wonderful threesome. The starry eyed Stork really finishes it!

    Here is something less mythical.

Today it is hot under a clear blue sky in Holland. And I must say ‘Like Sea froth’ shows exactly what I like now. Mouth watering cool, Keelin. Meanwhile I enjoy the other ones as well. With Cloud Stew the Joy is Unbound.

Last week I spotted some skies with a bit of the same as you both (Ruth and Michael) spotted in the last two posts. For me they all are examples of asperitas. Small areas but nevertheless the characteristic irregular undulations of asperitas are there.

Thank you Ruth for kind words. And yes my kite could be a bat. It is funny that I considered it to name it that way, but finally chose Kite. Love you Sword Eater.

I love #187 with its capricious winds (quoting Keelin) Michael and likewise Diced vs. Shredded, Keelin. The winds make wonderful patterns in it.

I enjoy all the former posts without exception, but although maybe “Not so Dramatic” I toast with a glass of rose to that one Ruth.

Quite a catch Sheryl from your roof. I hope to see more of that from you.

And Gregory as well with a brightly colored CHA. I check the sky every day for a CHA since it are just a bit more than two months over here that the sun is high enough to enable it to appear, but unfortunately I have not caught one yet.

You spotted some great iridescence Keelin. Thank you about the recent CAD with my 22 degrees halo. I was truly surprised to see it this way in a CAD because the moment I spotted that one I spotted only the altostratus. Although usually maybe a rather boring cloud it has its own beauty when the sunlight shines through. Only afterwards I saw the 22 degrees halo on it and it made me doubt the altostratus because a halo in altostratus is a bit of an exception. No doubts anymore now.

Btw: I hope you have seen the comet Neowise, Keelin? It is amazing to be able to see it with the naked eye. I had several occasions for it to see but I did not succeed to make a good picture.

A sundog that tries to hide. There is no need for that, isn’t it?

What does this remark about parking meters mean Michael? It seems to come out of the blue. Thinking about it I remembered a favorite cartoon: Guust Flater (very Flanders, Belgium) who has his practical jokes and conflicts about parking meters with the seriously dedicated officer Vondelaar. Here is an example of which I presume I don’t have to translate the words.

I know, this is rather off-topic, so back to Color!  I see this mask in #827, Michael. And there is this intriguing Rhapsody In Blue by Ruth!. To quote Keelin I think we share the urge to explore what’s just over the ridge (great title and spotting as well). In my opinion it will be no surprise: more clouds!

Sheryl, I think you can add them to your collection :) I did not even know this combination is possible, but I checked the ICA and it certainly is.

Four nice examples Jay! The only one I m not sure of is the cumulus congestus. A congestus is high and taller than wide. Maybe it is one but I can’t tell from the picture. A safe way to classify is ‘just’ as cumulus. I have no doubts about the other three. Any other opinions?

Ah, I see a lower segment of the 22 degrees halo. Is that right Keelin? Nice colors.

Now is the season for noctilucent but I haven’t seen it over here yet. I saw Neowise but one must b e very lucky to spot the comet together with noctilucent. The archive helps.
