Hi!  I live in St. Louis Missouri (United States), and have been contacted by a writer for the local paper who wants to do an article about local people in the Cloud Appreciation Society!  I submitted some of my photos to him, and he asked me for some additional information about four of them, including the type of cloud.  So, I’d really like to identify them properly!  I am very much an amateur, so I appreciate either confirmation or correction for my initial identifications.

      Thanks for your help!

      1. Asperitas?  (definitely don’t want to get this one wrong, haha)

Four nice examples Jay! The only one I m not sure of is the cumulus congestus. A congestus is high and taller than wide. Maybe it is one but I can’t tell from the picture. A safe way to classify is ‘just’ as cumulus. I have no doubts about the other three. Any other opinions?

There doesn’t seem to be enough of the cloud on the cumulus congestus photo to be able to ID properly. Id would be better to see almost all of the cloud before identifying.
