ParticipantAs usual, Hans, your title Don’t You Dare… had me grinning in anticipation before I found the image on the forum. Very funny! As for your sleek jet above, I think I’ve taken a ride on it into the world of story-inspiring cloud scenes. At least to my eye, the image below seemed to tell this one…
A creature with the head of a small ram is having a Very Big Hair Day. A petite cloud girl has stopped by to ask: Who does your magnificent do? Feeling complimented, he thanks her warmly and admits: I see my stylist friend every day or so.
Then he begins to show her a copy of DONE WITH THE WIND written by that very friend, who turns out to be none other than the famous cloud coiffurist Aeolus! She is impressed and considers making an appointment with him.
But in the next moment, just as the book is cracked open, a very strong breeze flies out. Her own hair takes on a whole new look. Fortunately, there is a sock puppet on the end of his outstretched arm ready to catch her should she be totally blown away.

ParticipantBeautiful expressiveness in recent posts, you two. And is that the sun in Not Sunny, Hans, or did you capture the moon in that moody shot?

ParticipantThanks to all for this fascinating topic, beautiful photos and great links. Hans, in your middle image above, you’ve really captured the loveliest transition from peachy orange to deep purple. WOW!

ParticipantIt appeared this cloud would sail quietly by, yet it dropped anchor in my noggin and whispered a haiku that has me still wondering…
Open-heartedis open-hearted
a half-empty or half-full
possibility? It also brings lyrics by Leonard Cohen to mind…
One by one, the guests arrive
The guests are coming through
The open-hearted many
The broken-hearted fewI love the way some clouds won’t leave us alone.

ParticipantLove the range of blues captured in your image above, Michael.

ParticipantThanks for posting your beautiful fog and aurora time-lapse videos, George. Really lovely captures.

ParticipantSo much to see sweeping playfully across this morning’s sky. Looking closely, there’s a tiny bit of moon still holding its own in the lower part of the upper left quadrant.

ParticipantThanks for the link to that dramatic shot, Hygee. Checked out Palmer’s website. His storm photos are truly stunning, and his night skies almost other-worldly.

ParticipantGreat compositions above, Michael.

ParticipantGreat contrast with crisp detail against the backdrop of that massive, nearly featureless cloud – a spectacular shot, Micheal!
In the image below, I quite liked the delicate, frayed edges of cloud that lay across a large section of that afternoon’s sky.

ParticipantMichael and Hans, the latest images from you on this thread are such a delight to see — over and over again. Lost Cloud In Reds and Sunset #425 are favorites and beautiful beyond words. That said, I do wish there were words for the sweet swell of emotions they evoke. Thank you for posting these celestial bookends to your days across the pond and across state lines.

ParticipantA dramatic scene you’ve captured there, Hongmeiyuan! It looks as if your feet at the time may have been right up there with those splendid clouds. A warm welcome to the forum and hope to see more images from you in days to come.
Below, the sky had a rather dusty look that day, but I don’t suppose we should call these “Linticularis”.

ParticipantOne might wonder…
How Tall IS a Cloud Goose?

ParticipantNice captures, Michael. I especially like the landscape feel of #312.
This one was a big surprise…

ParticipantVery interesting, Michael! I’ll keep my eyes on the skies and see if I spot any purple sunsets. And now I wonder, do you think there might also be a color difference in sunrises as well?
