Good luck indeed with data recovery. I can add that when my laptop went in for malware removal recently, I took the advice to replace the hard drive with SSD – solid state drive; never a moment of regret, its umpteen times faster.

Howard BrownParticipantThese birds were watching the pleasant skies of a setting sun. Don’t know what they are – we don’t (thanks CAS for adding the apostrophe) see starlings these days, jackdaws and blackbirds yes but not normally in such numbers
Howard BrownParticipantExtremely rare, but of course the Forum has touched on sprites before, didn’t you Laurence
Howard BrownParticipantNeeded F5 in Windows 10 again to get here.
Plain trailing
Howard BrownParticipantDrifting across the sun this afternoon.
Howard BrownParticipantF5 needed for me to get here in Windows.
Nicely balanced picture, I think. Well spotted.

Howard BrownParticipantThe winner is fine but scroll down half a dozen or so pictures to the horse rider on the beach for my favourite
Howard BrownParticipantAgain I needed F5 (in Windows) to regain the Reply option. Keelin, you are In The Mood.
This by Andrew Kirk has remained in my memory.
There is one other alpenglow in the Gallery (which says alpengluhen with accents).
Howard BrownParticipantHans, I think it was you mentioned your fondness for pareidolia. I was intrigued to hear Dr Hannah Fry (q.v.) say the reason for it was the instinct to look at a pattern on the ground in case it warned of imminent danger.
P.S. Keelin, Fry is a mathematician.
Howard BrownParticipantShiprock45, you have me wondering what it is that is available on Amazon. I have the old ICA in hard copy i.e.
Volume I, Revised edition 1975
Volume II 1987 (pictures)
The new ICA as in the top of this thread is to my knowledge on-line only and is free.

Paul Simons’ article on the supermoon goes on to discuss ‘a tiny flash of bright white light’, ‘a meteor slamming into the moon’s surface, but only appeared as a solitary pixel on recordings…..
