ParticipantThank you, Hans and Ruth. Oh, I could enjoy some splendid dreams on that Colored Airbag, Hans! And Ruth, your Slim and Shy halos are still cause for celebration. And isn’t it a sweet surprise when you’ve been looking down at yard work, then look up to find treats like we’ve been seeing? Even just a touch of iridescence can make my day.
Just A Touch

ParticipantFrank, I think that’s a splendid idea and propose Gavin’s birthday as the calendar day for celebration of clouds. As for getting it established, perhaps someone knows how to go about it?

ParticipantFinally catching up with this topic and Wow!, what a collection of trails and clever titles. Favorites: Michael’s Albuquerque and Z (mark of Zorro?); Hans’s Undecisive Pilot and Alarming lemniscates as well as that fabulous crow vortex instability; Ruth’s Race You Home and Me and My Shadow.
Caught this one just before the music changed…
Dancing To The Beat Of A Different Drum

ParticipantMichael, #194 is a beautiful bloomin’ wonder!
And Ruth, who wouldn’t give to live there? What a great shot!
Bits Of Brightness
Patricia L Keelin
ParticipantAh, thank you, Ruth! It’s the clouds that deserve the acclamation though, and as is the way with such sightings, I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right moment. Only a couple of days before, this beauty appeared in the late afternoon…

ParticipantDanke je, Hans, for your kind compliments! The sky was full of wonderfulness that morning, including this fantastical creature swimming (or perhaps strolling on many, many thin legs?) through the blue.

ParticipantThank you, Donatella and Hans! I think that colorful arc is just a bit of lens flare, but there was some coronal/iridescence closer to the sun.
Of course, I never look at the sun when taking photos of optical phenomena, just point and shoot in the general direction and hope for the best. So it’s often a surprise to see what shows up.
Here’s another shot from the series, and I’ve just posted yet another to the Looks Like topic for pure amusement.
The Balancing Point
Patricia L Keelin
ParticipantI wondered what might be balancing on that little streak of cloud right below the sun…
A closer look (plus strongly enhanced contrast) revealed this character looking a bit startled. Some kind of Iridescent Sky Surfer anticipating a wipe out?
In another moment, he was gone!

ParticipantSo many recent beauties from Michael, Ruth, Hans, and Donatella. I applaud them all!
Below, this scene looked like a curtain call for a chorus line of trees taking (or still shaking?) their bows after a wind-choreographed dance.

ParticipantThanks for the link, Hygge. I especially like the top image featured in the article.
Michael, #193 looks as if you were flying above a forest of cloud trees. What a visual delight!
Ruth, your Submitting A Determined Sun To Shine is like a Cheshire Cat’s smile. I think it will prevail! And glad to hear the images gave a giggle. I had never even heard of Celtic salt before being led on a search for something different!
Here’s another from the typewriter day’s series.
As Soon As The Dust Settles

ParticipantWhat a beauty, Hans! Overlooking looks like you could have been in a calm sea or lake when those clouds came right down to meet you.
Yesterday afternoon, we had the great surprise of RAIN! Every drop is welcome here, as is the sweet perfume of petrichor. I wasn’t the only one caught dancing in the droplets.

ParticipantThanks, Hans, and I hope you can decipher the meaning of that intriguing Cloud Hieroglyph! Perhaps it will tell us something about those wild Aperitas eyebrows you captured over Haarlem as featured on the Gallery recently? Such interesting formations!
Michael, wonderfully strange things are emerging from your #192. Love the variation in textures there, and the forms are teasing my imagination in fun ways.
Let’s see now, what more does this witchy soup require besides eye of newt and toe of frog…? Ah, yes…
Just A Sprinkle Of Light Grey Celtic Coarse Sea Salt

ParticipantYou’ve got the big skies for those big clouds there in Montana, Ruth! Enough room to unfurl those curls too.
Michael, impressive definition in #190’s texture and patterning in #191.
Looks like I should have covered the typewriter…

ParticipantThank you, Hygge and Hans, for info and links. Always a thrill to see the waves of color dancing—in any direction!
And yes, a bit of odd formatting to the two posts above. Let’s see if this one follows the same layout.
Halo Hoopla
Patricia L Keelin
ParticipantGlad to see you’re able to post again, Ruth! Funny how I only saw one mouse at first facing off with your One Mean Cat. Yet this morning, there was a second mouse jumping away in pure fright/flight!
Here’s a feathered friend who appears safe for the time being.
