Skeleton Birds was the perfect finale to B&W Vol 17, Hans, with a dramatic, sparkling quality to it. And thank you, Michael, for giving Vol 18 inviting new wings! Can’t wait to see where it will lead us.

Oops I did not see the count of the former Volume, Michael. The number is growing fast but you made a great start for Volume XVIII with your delicate duplicatus in #181. I hope this Volume will lead us to a place like Some Distant Shore by Keelin. Nevertheless Half And Half by Ruth shows a nice alternative. But most of all I love the newly started journey.

Let It Roll tells it like it will be, Hans! Wherever this volume may take us, I have no doubt it will be a fun sky trek. Love the contrast between the solidness of the solid mountain and the almost ethereal air it breathes in your Glacier shot, Ruth. And Michael, those subtly patterned textures—wow!

I must also agree about your Cauliflower, Ruth. And even tastier in cloud form than real life, some might say. ;)

Michael, my mind is quite entertained by the positive clouds and negative sky shapes in #184 — or is the + and – reversed? Looking at it either way is fun.

In the photo below, what caught my eye was that lonely little cloud in the lower left corner. I didn’t even see the halo until the image was downloaded. Surprise!

Wow, Floral Impression is a fantastic composition, Keelin. Floral indeed, but I also see a bird in it, flying straight up, wings forward and a long tail beneath. Intriguing.

Michael’s #186 is a great impression of a field of high grass gently bending in the wind. The wind that shakes The Barley in the next picture of Keelin. Great sequence. Ever heard the “sad” song about John Barleycorn?

Thank you for kind words, Hans, and now I see the flying bird too. I was only familiar with the song by the title The Wind That Shakes The Barley until now, so danke je for the introduction to John Barleycorn. And, of course, I was eager to see what image would accompany your title It’s Eating Something. The question is…what might that be?

Creepy and mysterious, Hans! Especially those pointy tentacles reaching for who-knows-what. A perfect follow up to Strange which clearly meets the title’s description. Both are wonderful images nonetheless.

And Michael, I can imagine that series had you glued to the spot awhile. What fabulous scenes. The sky was surely having some fun that day too.

thanks for the kind comments — and yes, you know ir when you see it ….. i’ve been using ir for landscapes for a few years now, but it was only during the pandemic lockdowns, when my travel was restricted to walks around my neighborhood, that i realized what a canvas of artistic possibilities existed right over my head, and i’ve since become a card-carrying member of the cloud appreciation society — a remarkable resource when it comes to teaching me about all the various iterations of clouds (cirrus, cirrocumulus and their relatives are my favorite subjects) …… here’s one from down the street from my home in corvallis, oregon

Michael, the softness of #204 reminds me of the gentlest of rains. Just looking at it feels refreshing.

Like you, Ruth, I’m longing for cooler temps. Your Dreaming Of Shade well captures that very moment when the clouds are ready to provide.

The image below reminds me of how color is often the first to go as dreaming comes to an end. It’s tricky to maintain the balance ‘tween dreaming and waking, but if managed, there’s fun to be had dancing along that fine line and watching as both vividness and dimension return.

Your boomerang is magical Richard. Infra red photography really adds something to the mystery of a B&W. And I love your ‘twister of sorts’ with the windmill in front, seemingly accountable for the swirling cirrus. Great composition!

And then there is cottage cheese and a Stairway To Heaven by Ruth. Watching it, I immediately hear the sound of the song.

Thanks Keelin and I don’t have an answer to your question either. Nevertheless your Chenille Blanket will suffice for all possible answers I suppose. Quite comfortable after dancing and for covering as well.

Michael’s #207 is beautiful but also has something uncanny. Here the Chenille Blanket will do for some covering. Great tension in it!

The three B’s Bridges, Boomerangs, and Blankets.  Not only fun but exceptional for dreaming.

Michael,  207 could be a steer head.  May be that is the cowgirl in me.

i often try to make order out of the chaos of the clouds, when simply letting the chaos take over would make a better photograph — hans, your ‘messy waves’ are a case in point ….. here’s something similarcoronavirus28

Oh what fun are all the above! Whatever order there may be, it likely won’t last long considering the whimsical way of clouds. Here are a couple to add to the messy mischief…

Micheal, can you blow some of those lovely clouds this way? It has been nothing but blue skies here for days.

And nice one, Richard! Perfectly placed to catch a summer’s breeze!

Some really great B&W’s to admire last week. Ir by Richard surprises again with the sunflower.

Is it because of the Olympics that I see swimmers from below in #211 by Michael? Love it. And a Small Flock Of Floccus by Keelin as well.

An the there are the riny curls in A Curling Event by Ruth. The KH provides a lovely detail in a great view.

Indeed there are beauties aplenty from many above, including your latest, Hans. Spilled Milk looks as if it’s still in motion. And congratulations on your sunset shot from Charigny being chosen as Thursday’s Cloud of the Day. Oh la la!

like your #215 michael — i see a moth there, or a winged something ….. perhaps keelin can put a more poetic turn to it than i ….. and ruth’s ‘looking ahead’ sounds an optimistic outlook — my own view of the setting sun thru the cirrus clouds was taken under the astoria bridge earlier this summer
