Thanks Dave. Very nice to see a B&W version of your asperitas sky. I love the capriciousness of these clouds. Next one is very different. In stead of capricious the lines are gentle. Still asperitas.

I am sorry when I react too nerdy Dave, but I read in your explanation “Blue light is called cool and yellow light is called warm. This corresponds to the energy levels across the electromagnetic spectrum.” The first of these two sentences is right but unfortunately for the second one it is the other way around. Blue light has a higher energy and red light a lower energy.

What’s confusing is that in normal language a red color is called warm and a blue or white color called cold. The way we speak about this is not related to real temperature or energy. The energy of a photon is directly proportional to its frequency or inversely proportional to its wavelength. In contrast with this fact is the color temperature of a light bulb called cool when the temperature is that high that the body radiates a blue / white light and called warm when the body radiates red light. Quite confusing in my opinion.

Anyway this nerdy detail does not harm your nice explanation of ir photography. So many thanks for that. The results of your ir images are amazing and its dramatic results seem fit for a black and white conversion.

Thanks Keelin and Lisa about the Pen.

Love the freedom here to post pictures that are as much – or as little – edited as each one wants. It is nice to keep experimenting and practicing with the features LR offer.

Great foamy #188, great Daybreaker and Pileus Dreams as well. They all make the fun of this thread for me.

It seems that a front moves over Arizona in #910 Michael. Great dividing line(s) in the sky.

Is the June Flight 2019 what you saw when you were Homeward Bound? At least I think it is a very beautiful view. Serene beauty of our celestial friends.

Thank you too Lisa. Maybe you post rarely, but this one is lovely and asks for more.

The Painterly Moon is fantastic Keelin. Funny to notice that what seems to be the moon is in fact a round cloud. Quite peculiar. Lullaby seems to me a close up of a sleeping eye with eyelashes of rays. Love it.

The two very different ones from Michael (#186 and #187) show the great diversity in B&W’s imho.

Next one belongs to the contrail thread as well.

It won’t help, Keelin, and it is just symbolic but next one looks like what California now needs.

Love the Midnight Dance Of The Praying Mantis, Keelin. It certainly belongs in this thread although also a candidate for the Thingy thread. Love the subtlety of #183 and #184 as well, Michael.

Next one is – like the Mantis – not strictly B&W but I think it belongs here.

Oh I love a lot of the former B&W’s. Especially Bird’s Eye View Of A bird Below and Layered Dessert by Keelin and the soft grays and texture in Arizona B&W’s #179, #181, #182 by Michael. here is one that looks like a canyon in a cloudscape together with some  lost smoke signals.
