Hans StockerParticipantGreat Sun Veil, Keelin and you posted also a great version of the corona on the gallery.
I like the strange cloud form at the bottom right in your Somewhere Out There, Ruth.
I am still waiting for some halo phenomena over here. They seem to hide for me for a long time, but then I caught some iridescence in a short lived layer of cirrocumulus.

Just A Moment
Hans StockerParticipantAll Coming Together by Keelin and then Fellowship by Ruth. Love them both and they are quite different. Lots of details and structure in All Coming Together while there is very little detail in Fellowship. To me it seems a quite unique sky you captured Ruth.
And then I can feel the Room To Roam, Ruth. Air to breeze, it is a refreshing vista.

Clotted Cream
Hans StockerParticipantKeelin, I love Drawing The Line At Sunset. It has your signature.
Duncan, I am sure you will spot some of these in the future. Wait for a day that is favorable for contrails and some of those are also favorable for CVI (Crow Vortex Instability).Next one is from my archive.

Strange Maneuver
Hans StockerParticipantYes Duncan and here are even more examples. It is called Crow Vortex Instability. The vortices are caused by the wingtips of certain airplanes. When the atmospheric circumstances are favorable the planes make these fleeting short lived patterns of lasso’s and circular patterns. One must have the camera at hand and then you can see them develop from straight contrails via “barbed wire” to these funny circular patterns. They don’t last long.

Barbed Wire

Hans StockerParticipantYes nice parallel line in your Taking The Evening Flight, Ruth, and also the right one throws its shadows.
Thanks Keelin, and somehow I am not surprised that it must be you to see something very different in Snapped, like two split-tongued friends looking for a celestial hookup. Love it. Once seen ……
And yes I captured a nice series of contrail. Here is another one from that same occasion.

Circles In The Sky
Hans StockerParticipantYes Duncan, a dragon, or an insect, or an elf flying upside down. Isn’t it a funny shape?
Hans StockerParticipant
It Snapped!
Hans StockerParticipantThanks to all for sharing your wonderful pictures in this inspiring thread (and others).
Keelin, I am not a big fan of fireworks either but I am a big fan of your Ooh! & Ahh!. A great way to start a new year of sharing our images on the Forum. When you need Fresh Air you must be here and also when you’re in a Balancing Act.

A Rippling Start
Hans StockerParticipantSome beautiful pileus shots Michael. Love their velvet appearance and #157 has also a great composition.

Diagonal
Hans StockerParticipantWelcome Peter, and I look out for more. I had to look good but it is there on Short and sweet and Deep Purple is rocking.
Nice Clear Shot Ruth and Duncan you have some great sunsets with contrail.
I zoom in and found this.

Creepy Contrail
Hans StockerParticipantThat one has an amazing shape Claire. I don’t have any clue but I found these pictures of the same event by some googling. The hat-like feature underneath the storm system seems to be at the place where a tornado might originate. Was there any (which I hope not)?

Hans StockerParticipantWow, what a great picture to end the year with Laurence. Unimaginable scales. Thanks for sharing.
Happy new year to all and to you too.
Best wishes,
Hans
Hans StockerParticipantLots of good food above in the sky, Ruth and Keelin. A nice snack is welcome when watching the wild animals jump through a burning hoop.

Circus In The Sky
Hans StockerParticipantHats off for your Sun Hat, Keelin. And nice corona Ruth and your title “More Moon, Not Quite Full” is fantastic. Love it.

A segment of the 22 degrees halo.
Hans StockerParticipantDuncan, you posted recently soem special ones. A great sunpillar at sunset and nice play with symmetry.
Tim made a grand entrance with a great colored canopy which seems to be the underside of an approaching incus. Welcome Tim.
It is a nice gesture by Ruth to light a torch for you.
Early Morning Light has the refreshing crispiness of a sunrise, Keelin.
