Wow Keelin, you ended Volume IV with a beautiful Wild Horse Dreams to continue this new Volume V with a evenly beautiful cow jumping Over The Moon.  A great start of a lot of fun to come.

I also want to mention from the former Volume the fanatastic Valkeries by Richard and Keelin’s Cleopatra’s Barge. It was also a pleasure to see that Blue-Eyed-Billy reentered the scene and I almost thought Ruth caught him also but it turned out to be a seahorse. It had only one horn short to be Billy. All great captures.

This one seems to be amazed about what she (?) saw in these threads.

Ah, danke je, Hans, for sharing in the fun and anticipation of what’s to come in this topic of wonders.

And you’ve captured exactly what I looked like in An Amazed Face after tilting my head while gazing at this unusual cloud shape…

Low and behold (and with a twist and a tweak of contrast), guess who’s there! If it isn’t our old friend…. looking like his mischievous self and as if he’s been cavorting through rainbows.

not sure it’s really a ‘thing’, but my immediate reaction while i photographed this one last week was “emanations from a think tank”

Magic matched with the spectacular specter you’ve captured, Richard! And your idea of seeing clouds as think tank emanations has great appeal. Who knows what will the sky will come up with next?

And Hans, you’ve found it! The spirit of Dodo — a wonder to behold! In fact, what you’ve got there quite resembles some of the anatomical illustrations in one of my favorite books: Dodo: A Brief History by Errol Fuller. Lovely!

Still, how sad that some creatures have gone the way of that sweet odd bird. Here’s another that roams only the skies now too.

After extinct creatures I discovered the sky also houses cartoon animals. Believe it or not but where the Coyote never succeeded I think I captured the Roadrunner at full speed.

Michael, thanks for sharing the link to your great website. Endless fun, isn’t it? Your octopus in that big sea of blue sky looks to be on the move, and like his sea-dwelling cousin, appears ready to take on a completely new form in the next moment.

Ah Ruth, your Anteater charms. Ever since I had an enchanting dream about a Myrmecophaga Tridactyla, I’ve been enamored by them. He too, looks to be on the move, as does your dashing quick Izzy.

And Hans, WOW! What is going on in El Dorado?! I want to read the story and see the film on that one. A fantastic image!

        Leisure (1911)
        W.H. Davies

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?-

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:

No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Keelin, your Halloween captures are fantastic. I love ‘Horned Devil Head With An Unhappy Expression’, ‘On A Mission To Find Dorothy’ (beware Dorothy!) and’Surrealistic Pillow’ (might that one be taken from a Jefferson Airplane?). Love them all three. And your ‘A Cloud As Lovely As A Tree’ is poetry itself that you don’t even have two writ yourself. In my opinion there is no need to resist the bards to inspire you. On the contrary.

Also Duncan got inspired to quote W.H. Davies. Very nice. Maybe we don’t have time to stand and stare but I promise I will do over and over again.

Ruth, a heart or a skull? That’s one for Halloween for sure. I agree with you on the running chicken by Michael.

You’ve a keen eye there, Duncan.

Or might that be a hitchhiking snail that’s taken an unfortunate tumble off the magic carpet, Ruth? I trust your terrier’s got a good grip. And I can only hope such a small snail would make a safe landing and not get squished like others I’ve seen.

Oh yes, Ruth, I do remember… and the Mickey Mouse Club afternoon TV show was a favorite back then. I especially loved “Anything Can Happen Day” — which is what looking at the sky is like, come to think of it.

That’s an impressive Eagle you spotted. And I think this pup would be driven to barking at it were it not being distracted by a tasty treat.

It’s always fun to see what others see in our shared clouds, Duncan. And as Hans pointed out ages ago, once seen….  Thanks to you, I can now easily spot the early lay of the lands back when dinosaurs such as the one below roamed.

This one seems to be stomping in a rage about having lost his tail, maybe feeling  a bit envious of his lizard cousin’s talent for regeneration. Do you see what I see?

Keelin, I see a face half-veiled with a mask as if to cover some disfigurement but not a human face.  Also, I see a man sitting maybe at a piano or a desk.  Look at what would be the nose of the face.  And on the left, I’m also seeing a crustacean with its many legs.  No dino though.

Oh yes, I now see the face too, Ruth! And I like it very much. Mysterious, with that veil of cloud over the other half of it. I wish I could hear what tale s/he has to tell!

Your shark there looks a bit scary. Maybe he just needs a treat?

For the big guy below, some munching on some fresh tree shoots or binging on bananas will likely keep him from going bananas. Then, a nice bath might just make his day.

Ah Peter, can’t say you’ve not given it a good go! Once another image is revealed, it can be fun to toggle back and forth between them.

And Duncan, I see now the fellow sitting and the crustacean! What more might be found?

If you’ve not yet spotted the dinosaur, here’s a nudge that might help him come out stomping.

And who knows what this set of clouds has since become? I suppose we’ll just have to keep our eyes on the skies to find out.
