ParticipantThanks Ruth. Early and Late might not be applicable as a title to next one, but …

ParticipantRobert, what an impressive lenticular cloud with a hint of sunset. Love it.
Love the play of light in your “Light behind the clouds” too, Ruth.

ParticipantMichael, above are some fantastic delicate examples of pileus. Love them. You also posted in the part of the forum for Cloud Identification Help some great images of developing sheets of stratus accompanied by your explanation of what’s happening. Very instructive and interesting.

ParticipantYes that’s Crow Vortex Instability (CVI) you spotted, Ruth. Very nice. I love to spot them but – as you say – they are very short lived.
Your twisted ribbon has certainly some marvelous bonuses, Robert. An impressive scenery.
The ribbon reminded me of a twisted contrail I spotted some years ago.

ParticipantThat was a marvelous upper tangent arc you spotted, Keelin, together with a sun pillar. The sun is just set and the UTA takes this sharp shape when the sun is that low. Here is a link to a page where you can simulate the height of the sun with the mouse and see what shape the UTA takes: Simulate shape of UTA
Several great iridescences Ruth and it is a very nice couple of sundogs you spotted Ariel.

ParticipantThat’s a nice one Marie. I am rather sure you spotted an undulatus formation in the distance. I am not sure about the main cloud but I think it is stratocumulus. Any other opinions?

ParticipantDear Laurence, thanks for sharing this one. Unfortunately somehow the link to the image missed, but with your info I could find it and it is here: Elves over Italy
An amazing phenomenon and image it is. Love it.

ParticipantYour String Section is ready for writing sheet music, Keelin. Maybe for Good Vibrations?

ParticipantI agree with the perlucidus Robert.

ParticipantYes Robert, Altocumulus stratiformis. That is Altocumulus in an extensive layer.

ParticipantA Mouth Full is very funny, Ruth. After your lenticular sculptures your last two are amazing Michael. Such a tneder veil of pileus. I hope more will follow. And #1409 has mystery in it. It catches the eye and makes you puzzle.

ParticipantGreat Puff, Ruth. And after order in #239 some real chaos in #240, Michael. Love that!

ParticipantPeter, like Ruth says the three straight lines are certainly contrail. But in the corner at the right and above the trees I see cirrus fibratus. One can see the difference. 😊

ParticipantI love this Welsh corner on the Forum. Please keep it alive. So sad that the groups don’t exist anymore. Advantage s that anyone can comment not restricted to membership of a group.
Great lowbows btw! -
