The Times, UK, today has a nice moon + plane picture on page 10. But a news clip on page 4 adds ‘…something still rarer: a super blue blood moon, brought on by a total lunar eclipse.’
Howard BrownParticipantThank you for a great start, George and Hans.
No, as Hans says, no constraints like storm clouds, just share whatever the thought brings to your mind. Back catalogues are OK too.
George your picture is complex and fascinating – almost a grey Kelvin-Helmholtz on the upper right (I have never seen K-H pix other than in white).
And Hans, what a contrasting background above the Cu.

Howard BrownParticipantMichael, I would add my thanks to those of George for your thoughts of 24JAN2018 – very interesting; your dry last line observation reminds me of the east coast NCIS TV show where when an agent looks askance at being ordered to go to Arizona another agent observes ‘it’s a dry heat’.
Your Pointy Pileus shows you have some brilliant Cu shots, so I hope you will be contributing to my new Silver Lining thread….

Howard BrownParticipantJust wanted to add this CAS Saturday Cloud which is in my region

Howard BrownParticipant“It’s going to be another busy year.”
The Times frequently carries full page adverts in its hard copy for its subscription packages (I have one). The current series is a montage of a particular politician. The first I noticed was Trump and the Presidential helicopter. There was a Trump look-alike on the left, must be a stand-in I thought. Then it slowly dawned there were a dozen or so Trumps. A tad OTT methinks.
P.S. Don’t you just love the #10 pussy cat – Larry is it? Yes

Howard BrownParticipantGreat Malvern, Worcestershire, UK
Howard BrownParticipantTwo more clever corvids (but behind The Times pay barrier). The first is a raven which enjoyed hot chocolate on Dartmoor. The second in the same article (but no link that I can find) is a magpie with reference to The Lost Words recently voted one of Britains top ten nature books.

Howard BrownParticipantOwen Humphreys, we have seen before, had sunrise at Tynemouth lighthouse in The Times, UK, 26DEC2017; this is another lighthouse with sun pillar
Howard BrownParticipantI guess murmurations are sunset

I read a snippet in the paper that said the extreme weather in Eastern USA was unlikely to be out of the norm, not due to climate change or suchlike.
Howard BrownParticipantA nice collection. And a warm welcome to some new names. This looked good in The Times, UK, 2JAN2018, but not so good here on-line, I suspect:
The caption read ‘ “Threshold of the year” Durdle Door, near Lulworth, Dorset, early yesterday. Wet weather around Britain is expected to last until the end of the week.’
Howard BrownParticipantI took some snaps at the first sign of a break. New for 2018 is this clump in the tree; I don’t think it is mistletoe (common this year at Hillier Gardens), we do have a few grey squirrels and magpies but none have been seen. p
N.B. It has been a lot of trouble uploading these snaps in Windows 10 – its not a simple drag and drop.Howard BrownParticipantDid Shakespeare write about that, Ian?
