Gregory VenarskyParticipant
Hello everyone!
This is one of my favorite captures. It is of a double horseshoe vortex cloud!
I hope you enjoy!
Invisible Horse
Gregory VenarskyParticipantNot by any standard! Great capture! If anyone else would like to weigh in, please do so!
Gregory VenarskyParticipantIncredible photos everyone!
I do have a question for you Ruth: what part of Montana do you happen to live in/near? I have been to Montana a few times and I think it is a very beautiful state. It has a big sky for sure :)
Anyways, here is my contribution for today (and the sun is actually about to set here now, so I will have to do my daily walt to try to capture some more). It was taken a couple of days ago, and I think it is one of my favorites.
Hope you enjoy!
Greg
Flowing Forth
Gregory VenarskyParticipantHello everyone!
Lovely photos as always! I especially like the most recent photo by Michael. How is everyone by the way? I hope all is well!
I have two photos for this thread today. The first of which is a multicolored contrail which was quite interesting. I believe a cloud may have blocked the back half of it and the sunset allowed the other parts to glow! The second of which you may have to look at closely, but there is a regular contrail, but further to the lower right of the image there is a black contrail. I am unsure of whether this is a shadow or a contrail in shadow. It was amazing to see nonetheless.
Hope you enjoy!

Gregory VenarskyParticipantHello Ally,
I believe it may be a snowbow! I assume the sun was low on the horizon and the snow nearby was behind you in this instance. I believe these are also relatively rare. Great capture!

Gregory VenarskyParticipantHello!
I believe you are right in saying that there are some K-H clouds there. The first one is most definitely that. However, the second one could also be altocumulus undulatus. Hope this helps!
Gregory VenarskyParticipantHello everyone!
Sorry it’s been a while again. But once again, busy-ness has taken over my life. I am now in college(yay!!!!!!!). I’ve only been here one week and so naturally I am still adjusting but today I went north for a day-trip and saw an absolutely beautiful sunset. Look forward to posting it and chatting once again!

Gregory VenarskyParticipantHello everyone!
I recently went flying with a colleague I work with, and I’ve got admit, it was a fantastic experience. She even told me she might be able to teach me how to fly! (That is, once she gets her CFI license)
It was a wonderful experience and I will be sure to do it again.
Fly Like an Eagle
Gregory VenarskyParticipantNow that is a lot of contrails! Wonderful shots Kathleen!
Gregory VenarskyParticipantThis very well could be a case of isolated mammatus. I have actually seen it come in the cirrus form before which is absolutely fascinating. Therefore, I don’t believe it must be near a thunderstorm or must be cloudy for mammatus to form. This is a wonderful capture by the way! If anyone else has any other opinion, please do share! Also here is a photo (not mine) of cirrus mamma because I think it is insanely cool…

Gregory VenarskyParticipantI thank you all for your kind words! I hope that I can do well in my studies and always keep an eye skyward.
Storm above the Corn
Gregory VenarskyParticipantAll of your photos are absolutely fantastic!! I especially love the chaos of Feeling Feisty.
Fluff
Gregory VenarskyParticipantI love the colors everyone! Hans and Ruth’s most recent photos seem to match in color, don’t they? It’s lovely, I must say. Here is a subtle piece, with just a hint of the sun.
The Sands of Time
Gregory VenarskyParticipantAbsolutely lovely photos everyone! See if you can spot the rainbow in this one!
Path to the Pot of Golden Sand Dollars
Gregory VenarskyParticipantHere is the back end of that dissipating roll cloud. Hope you all are well. Enjoy!
