Hmmmm, Ruth, this one doesn’t seem to be quite as organized as your previous image, so not quite as certain about it. There are a couple of definite curls on it, though.

They do look similar to KH, at least. It’s so hard to tell when they are in that in-between point. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will step in and give a more definitive answer!

I have seen KH clouds many times, plus many questionables, such as I posted here. It can be difficult to know for certain so much of the time! This is one of my favorite photos of KH clouds, but you have to look carefully for them. I was so excited to get a sun halo, sun dogs AND KH clouds in one shot. The KH are in the lower left hand corner – you can’t see many of them because I was trying to include the whole “scene” in the photo, but the form was definitive. I cannot say for certain regarding your photos, as I am far from the expert. I will wait along with you to see what the others say!

RamonaRamona EdwardsParticipantOh my, Hans!! That is an amazing catch!! I don’t think I would have figured that one out – so glad you were able to photograph it!

Ramona EdwardsParticipantOh, thank you for your reply! I am fascinated by these tiny mamma clouds! I actually saw ANOTHER one only two days later – under similar weather circumstances. Will attach photos here, too – the suspected area of mamma is on the bottom of the top cloud, around the middle of the photos. Thanks for sharing yours!
Blessings,
Ramona
Ramona EdwardsParticipantThanks, Hans! I have plenty of “in between” photos if needed, too! I was having a hard time believing what I was seeing – or I thought maybe I was misunderstanding what was going on – but the streaks were right there in every photo. SO, that’s why I came here to find out for sure! I appreciate all input!

Ramona EdwardsParticipantThanks on this one, too, Hans! I went back and edited and studied the MANY photos I have of this and came to the same conclusion. The pillars were there from different angles and over a relatively long period of time. It was fun looking through the photos and seeing how a small area of lighter clouds appeared just over the cloud bank before the sun came up. I believe I saw the beginnings of the sun pillar in those clouds and watched it until the sun was fully risen. Fun stuff!

Ramona EdwardsParticipantThanks so much, Hans! I appreciate the input and suggestions! I look to watch clouds form and change and I see SO much that I have questions about! Getting ready to post another question, in fact, LOL!

Ramona EdwardsParticipantI was trying to find what I call “Tree Bones” that were similar to the clouds above them. This was about as close as I came! Cirrus clouds, right? Ha – maybe it’s a Cirrus tree, too?!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantLove that, Keelin! Are those Altocumulus clouds? I am trying to learn to identify clouds and every once in a while I get them correct – but my track record isn’t very good yet! I want to keep trying, even though it will mean lots of mistake, LOL!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantMichael, I am watching YouTube videos and learning to identify clouds. Are those Cirrostratus clouds? The ones with lots of little clouds?
Ramona EdwardsParticipantOhhhh, Keelin, I love that photo, too!! Those are high Cirrus clouds, right? I see a lot of those little curlies/loops in clouds here, too. Do they have a name or are they just part of the way clouds change?
