Patricia L KeelinParticipantLucky you, Ruth! Sounds delicious.
This One Got Away~~~~~~
Patricia L KeelinParticipantIndeed, Hans, we could use a downpour! Meanwhile, the clouds above (here on the forum, that is) bring some sweet solace. As smokey, cloudless skies continue here, I’ve been diving into the archives and found a memory of the last time I had a much closer view of celestial friends.
June Flight, 2019
Patricia L KeelinParticipantAnd then there’s this poor fellow who appears to have dropped a coin into a cloud hole and…
Lost His Last DimePS: Love your playful pup on the Gallery this morning, Hans. At first, I did not see him clearly, but viewed at a smaller size, he just about jumped off the screen!
Patricia L KeelinParticipantMichael, your latest two bring associations of the spark of an idea and the calm of a clear mind. Both so welcomed during these uncertain and restless days.
And Hans, thank you for this vista! It needs no color to make me want to explore it.
Tumultuous Times
Patricia L KeelinParticipantVery funny, Ruth! Looks like that’s not the only thing that can come loose up there…
Anyone Missing A Molar?
Patricia L KeelinParticipantLovely composition in your stage-lit scene, Ruth. That hint of green in the foreground foliage is a nice touch.
And lots of energetic action in #906, Michael. You’ve done your usual magic with the grays and contrasts in it.
Hans, your watercolor could even be a scene from underwater. I can imagine swimming just above the bottom of a white sandy riverbed. Every time I gaze at it, I begin to feel like a trout—in a good way. ;) Maybe it helps to be a Pisces?
Last week there were a few days of very welcomed clear air here, though not many clouds. Still, it was a joy to go for walks in the neighborhood and catch those few that were passing through, like the one below. Unfortunately, just this morning, a new fire lit up about 20 miles away (Glass Fire, northeast of St. Helena), so we’re back to keeping a close eye on where that one will head.
Coming Up For Air
Patricia L KeelinParticipantStill searching for who might have left that boot print Ruth spotted. I suppose we could all agree it would not have been this fellow…
Footless And Fancy Free
Patricia L KeelinParticipantThank you, Michael and Hans for well wishes and kind words. Fires are still burning in the western states, but we have had a few days of clear skies here—a joy to see, even if they have been mostly cloudless. All the better to enjoy offerings on this forum’s many topics.
As for the most recent images above, what a wild Skycanyon, Hans! That could be the setting for an epic tale. And love the dusty dance of your #182, Michael.
Speaking of dances, not strictly a B&W below, but she insisted on mood lighting…
Midnight Dance Of The Praying Mantis
Patricia L KeelinParticipantRuth, thank for the cloud pillow. Even your jellyfish looks like a soft place to rest one’s head.
Michael, I keep returning to your Arizona Cloudscape #406 for the way it makes me feel, relaxed and content to just linger there.
And Jocelyn, your Altocumulus with dense bands looked to be right on top of you—fabulous!
Finally, a day with something up there…
Tumbling Clouds
Patricia L KeelinParticipantThank you, Laurence! Those fogbow bridges are what I imagine faerie folk might use (if they didn’t have wings). So lovely!
Patricia L KeelinParticipantNice boot print, Ruth. Perhaps the two figures below are discussing how it might have gotten there. The fellow on the left looks a bit stone-faced but still interested to hear what the more gregarious character on the right has to say.
Conjecturing CharactersPS: Congratulations on your Cloud-of-the-Day character featured a few days ago! Might he have been on the run from that shark fin on the right?
Patricia L KeelinParticipantLove that percolated look of your Arizona B&W#181, Michael. It reminds me of my mind in the morning—and that first cup of coffee bringing everything into focus.
Happy to report a smoke-free sky (at least here in Napa) today and the first sighting of clouds in weeks. Needless to say, I ate it up!
Layered Dessert
Patricia L KeelinParticipantMichael, I can sense the slow, quiet movement of clouds in Arizona B&W#180, especially in that open space at the top, bits of fluff floating in to join the group. Nice!
The photo below gave me a feeling of sitting on a high branch, looking down at the feathery head of an owl.
Bird’s Eye View Of A Bird Below
Patricia L KeelinParticipantIndeed, Ruth! And not only are some of the images humorous on this looks-like topic, they often spark little stories that take delightful turns in the telling…
I think your Gargoyle may have so frightened the cloud fellow below that he took off at a run and… oopsie! He’s taken a tumble (stepped on a bit slippery cirrus perhaps). But entering the scene (upper stage left) is a compassionate bear who looks ready to lend a hand (or a paw in his case).
Oopsie!
Patricia L KeelinParticipantFine textural captures, Michael, sandwiching Hans’s Lurking Creatures. Hope they come out to play! I imagine they might have some interesting tales to tell.
