ParticipantLove your redheaded sunbather, Hans, though, to my eye, he looks a bit startled at that approaching shark-shape. And, thanks to your vivid description, I now see two very different maidens at Michael’s Waterfall. Do you see the long-haired blond figure in the upper, left corner, arms below her shoulders obscured lost in shadow? More amusing is your vision which gave me a good giggle. How could I have missed her?!
Here’s someone else having fun in the water…

ParticipantIndeed, room for all, Ruth, including your gently hued Giraffe and Hans’s Lizard, who looks to be enjoying a good shower. And speaking of such wonders, who is that mysterious maiden at the waterfall, Michael? Her image appears as if from a dream. How refreshing ‘twould be to stand ‘neath Nature’s cascade. Well, I suppose one can still imagine…

Participant~~~ Wow!! Love the recent additions to this fantastic wild ride that Michael and Hans keep rolling. Beautiful drama captured, Dave, (positively enhanced by the B&W/Sepia tones), and a mesmerizing video, Frank.
As Michael notes, witnessing Asperitas events brings a special feeling (like an “E-Ticket Ride” at Disneyland back in the ’50s!). I must add that even just seeing them online here brings delight to the day. So many thanks to all contributors above for sharing.

ParticipantAh, Ruth, that is a lovely Light! And the coolness of the scene is so welcomed at this moment. Thank you, too, for well wishes. Still outside the evacuation zone here, but air and ash are a potent reminder of what’s too close for comfort. Feeling deeply for those who are nearer to the flames and must be overwhelmed with familiar anxieties.
Another cool comfort is your Wavy Vagueness, Hans—and your fun reply. What?! You say there are also imaginary numbers?! Something like that afterimage cloud I ‘saw’ recently? The idea alone creates a strange sensation in my noggin, like a subtle pressure system building, causing the cloud of a wild thought to form. It just goes to show the mind is as unbound as the sky, creating combinations that baffle and bewilder, illuminate and inspire. And yes, the Escher ants! I believe I’ve seen their loopiness in real life. And oh, the memory (half a century ago!) of möbius notes passed surreptitiously in high school (…they kissed and then…). The repeated curls of Kelvin-Helmholtz come to mind, although, and alas, they fade in no time.
Meanwhile, there is this alway room (and time) for more…

ParticipantA lovely Pastel Painting, Hans. I like the soft feel of it and can enjoy a calm breath just gazing at it. And a wonderful capture, Michael! That one makes me want to hold my breath as if swimming beneath an ice floe. A cool adventure.
For Hans: As for an “affinity…with infinity” ;) … It mist be the allure of the ineffable that holds the appeal for this girl from the north campus. Well, I meant to write must, but there you have it. It’s all in the mist! And what happens in Vagueness might well stay in Vagueness were it not for the clarity and precision of mathematics. Recently, I had to smile (surely a curve of measurable measure?) when a friend mentioned irrational numbers. Just thinking about such concepts as infinity and non-duality, even the magic of the möbius strip (where does one start when there is no end?) tickles my mind with wonder. Mathematics may be a different language, one that I cannot speak or understand, but it holds a beauty all its own. Not unlike an appreciation for clouds. While I don’t know or understand all the science of their making, they tickle my eyes and spirit nonetheless. Likely just another part of the dreamer within.

ParticipantThe lines in your Arizona B&W#172 tell a peaceful story, Michael. But oh, days of 116f there must be a harsh reality! Hope the hurly burly come your way soon. Looks like we may have more of it today. Here’s another look at yesterday morning.

ParticipantLoved Another Veil Variation, Hans, which appears to be floating on a gentle, wafting breeze, while Arizona B&W#170 and #171 are absolute celebrations, Michael, with sound tracks all their own. Trees Bright Shadow is one to linger on, Lisa, cleverly titled as well.
Completely unexpected weather here with thunder, a bit of rain and this morning’s surprise…

ParticipantRuth, Michael, Hans, Gregory, Don, what a joy to see so many beautiful rays and shadows, a bit of moon, and fruit flavored skies spanning the color spectrum from all of you. Especially love the trick of light on wavelike clouds captured in A Bit Deceiving, Hans.
Anyone for another helping of dessert?

ParticipantFinally, a chance to catch up with this colorful topic…
Sheryl, that extraordinary display must have had you dancing on the roof of your shop! Hope you have many more such sightings and join us here often.
Gregory, congratulations on capturing that long, beautiful CHA!
And Hans, what a bloomin’ beauty over Bloemendaal you shared with everyone via the CAS Gallery this morning! Your Half A Halo above is another one, albeit with subtle coloring, and I love the contrast in the photo above that one with your shy sundog.
Here is one I found hiding in the archives, the sun caught in a spiderweb of cloud.

ParticipantThank you, Ruth and Hans, for your kind words. Endless Possibilities is exactly that and kept me hopeful, Ruth, while Winged Horizon (wow!) lifted my spirits, Hans.
And then today, this surprise… It called for a joyful bit of dancing right there in the middle of the street.
Celebration!

ParticipantWhat a fun—and inspiring—sighting, Ruth!

ParticipantFrom complex to simple compositions, the latest offerings by you two, Michael and Hans, are exquisite, with shapes at times defined only by the subtlest shades of gray. Well done!

ParticipantWhat’s a cloud-lover to do while waiting out the doldrums of summer’s all-blue skies? This morning, I let my disappointed eyes drift down. They settled with a sigh to rest on a beautiful tree packed with deep green leaves. After a short while, I lifted my eyes to the skies again, and lo and behold, there it was—a big beautiful cumulous cloud! As if my wish alone had conjured it! Alas, all too soon, the bright afterimage of that lovely, dark-leafed tree superimposed upon the blank canvas of sky, dissolved before my very eyes. For a moment though, seeing was believing, and that moment made me smile.
Not A Cloud In The Sky

ParticipantMichael, Hans, and Ruth: The wide variety in your recent lovely images has me musing on how droplets of one cloud must have been, and in time surely become, droplets of another. Indeed, what goes around, comes around, sometimes in dramatically altered form! And what better day than today, August 8th—International Infinity Day!—to celebrate this wonder. Here’s to our joyous sharing of clouds forever!

ParticipantIt’s hot here today as well, Hans, so your Approaching Rain is a most welcomed—and beautiful—sight. And I would happily travel your enticing escape road, Ruth, with hopes of finding something like this…
