Once my nephew had a laugh with me about my appreciation of clouds. How silly can one get! But a year later and much to my surprise he started also cloudspotting. What was seeded had taken root with nice cloud-conversations and exchange of pictures as a result.
A few days ago he sent me this halo spectacle from the ski resort where he is now giving ski lessons (great to be young!). Snowcannons had filled the air with diamond dust. You can see the individual snow crystals sparkle in the sunlight. He will like it when I share this one here.

Yes Alec, the challenge in the game has become clear. For a lot of numbers between where we are now and the high end, there are lots of missing examples and the exact number is uncertain. I wait for a good day contrail hunting. Here the sky is covered and grey and will be so the coming days. Can’t wait.
For what it is worth: a number close to 20 might be possible. Maybe some more?
You are right Keelin. I overlooked the smaller one. Oops. I will have this #9 in store after the real #8 will be posted by someone or maybe I find one myself.

Impressive respons to my tiny distant travelers, Cloverpatch. That is a lot more KH (or Holmboe?). I never witnessed the phenomenon this spectacular.
