Hans StockerParticipantJust two days ago the tingle was felt over here. Hereunder is an example of a short segment of the parhelic together with a segment of the 22 degrees halo. You can see that the sun was high at that moment (approaching midday approximately 55 degrees altitude) and the parhelic describes a circle around the zenith at just that altitude.

Small segment of the parhelic arc in the cirrus right under
Hans StockerParticipantFrayed Cloud Connector is ingenious Keelin. Love it.

Strange Crossings
Hans StockerParticipantKeelin, where Michael mentioned the infinite potentials of clouds you are amazed of consistent variety of pictures on this thread. You yourself also contribute to the variety with those nubbins that fell in your noggin. And at the same time my English vocabulary is enriched every day while checking the forum.
ArizonaB&W#134 is another great composition Michael.

Hans StockerParticipantNice sound this Aria has Keelin. The music will go on.

Well-tempered Cirrus
Hans StockerParticipantInteresting green color in your cumulonimbus Michael. I suppose you did so too, but I tried to google for an answer and didn´t find anything conclusive. Only the tale tell you mention about the sign of hail. Might there be anyone on this forum having a scientific explanation? There must be many skilled scientists among the members.
Going Nimbus: nice found description of the growing process!
Keelin, your Pond is amazing. I keep gazing at it for the striking resemblance with even some clouds reflected in it!

A Bird And A Plane
Hans StockerParticipantWow Michael, that is a curious shot with this green flash. What do you think it is? Do you have any idea? Anyway a marvelous cumulonimbus.

Some rain might have fallen
Hans StockerParticipantHere a colored version of my B&W Wisps. In reality the wisps were hardly visible, just the faint white undulating structure. Editing revealed its hairy look and the curling smoke structure. Unfortunately at the cost of a bit too much noise in the B&W version. The color version is not that noisy but shows less of the curling smoke like wisps. Every advantage has its disadvantage (translated quote from a famous Dutch philosopher).

Wisps revisited in color
Hans StockerParticipantThanks George. Great black and white coming out of the lennies! Love it.

Reentering The Atmosphere
Hans StockerParticipantThat is a really nice one George with a parhelic tail for sure!
Hans StockerParticipantCongrats on this one Keelin. This must be a parhelic. The arc is like drawn with a fine pencil in the cirrostratus. Whenever you doubt about it, be sure that the line of white light is at the same height as the sun making a circle with the zenith in the middle, passing through the sun and the two possible sundogs as well. That is only the rare case when the arc is complete, but also small segments sometimes show up in the cirrus recognizable by their relative brightness. Follow the imaginary line the arc must describe to confirm (or not). Check also Atoptics parhelic circle.
It is always a joy to capture one! It isn’t appearing that often.
Hans StockerParticipantNice cotton wool clouds Michael.
Yesterday I saw faint meandering lines of cloud. It took some heavy developing so at the cost of a bit too much noise next wisps became visible. Peculiar enough to share.

Wisps
Hans StockerParticipantVery nice Pelican indeed, Keelin.

The Sphinx Overlooks It Carefully
Hans StockerParticipantLove the music in your Some Kind Of Symphony Keelin.

Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody..
