Howard BrownParticipant
Ah, so. Well not to worry Alex, I talk in riddles at times. But it also occurs to me that the hole in the cloud perhaps moves with the cloud? Could go some way in an hour, and with the moon moving as well…
So I am not impressed with the cloud-gun for astronomy; though I could see it working for moongazing on a still night for a few minutes. It might be nice for cloudspotting a higher etage on that still night – but I wonder how you might control the height of the hole; you would not want to shoot through the lower cloud and have a nice but invisible hole in the higher cloud.
Zarkov is probably a great lateral thinker.
Howard BrownParticipantWhat do you know! NCIS episode today went off to Az backcountry, the badlands said the sheriff. I thought it said Mt Pinos, but the only one I can find is in Ca.
Howard BrownParticipantI caught the evening repeat of this – interesting but no big deal if you missed it. Met Office has 1800 staff. Short term forecasts good = 80% accurate; not so the medium and longer term. Its wide range of interest may make it unsuitable to privatise.
Howard BrownParticipantHaving looked up trope and Palo Verde I can see what you mean, MikeL

‘H’ (for Hampshire Hog which were in the forest today)
Howard BrownParticipantAlex, you have an expensive other hobby – did you already shoot your second ‘x’ off?
Was this offer dated 1 April (the Ming dynasty ended 1644)?
How many can not drink the rainwater and how do you tell them?
How high the moon? (Or at least the cloud beneath).
Not near an airport? You can not be serious, it perfectly complements the laser gun.‘H’ (for Ho, Ho, Ho)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/steven-cohen/hillary-clinton-is-right_b_7924908.htmlThe President has been all over UK media channels today. So too have his opposition, like West Virginia, Jed Bush etc. An impartial (?) American observer on BBC Radio, David Mark, said the Republicans do not deny the science behind the Climate Change Plan, rather they will fight it as undesirably unilateral vs China and India steaming ahead (my phrase).
I was surprised to see Wyoming listed alongside the Appalachian states as a major coal producer. Wiki says its motto is ‘Equal rights’, and an unofficial slogan is ‘Like no place on earth’; about half of Wyoming is government owned.
Howard BrownParticipantLooks like a multi-level delight, MikeL. Many Thanks.

Howard BrownParticipantHoward BrownParticipantSorry, Alicia, I can talk like that, a bit vague. First, K-H is a known cloud type e.g.
Classic clouds #1 – Kelvin-Helmholtz billowsSecond, I was not too sure if your picture was indeed K-H and was inviting others’ opinions.
P.S. I am still learning my way around your blog, but did get back to Feb 3.
Howard BrownParticipantReal cool, Marsha, many thanks.
This obituary is for perhaps the first ‘spotter’, the reason we are all here perhaps.

N.B. The Telegraph through up a message about ‘your first free article this month’ and suggested one subscribe; uh oh, I thought, following in The Times’ footsteps.
Howard BrownParticipantAlicia, I like those clouds a lot, and can foresee spending a happy hour or two enjoying them.
What hit me at a quick late night glance was Feb 3, Kelvin-Helmholtz in 3D???
Much appreciated.

P.S. Loved your video, Mike; those clouds looked so much better than they did from below.
P.P.S. From the above link:
