Geo-engineering
The book: http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?an=oliver+morton&sts=t&tn=the+planet+remadeThe BBC discussion:
‘The failure of governments to come to an agreement on climate change will be discussed next month at a UN conference in Paris and Oliver Morton looks at whether the radical, yet uncertain, strategies of geo-engineering are the answer’:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06mc8j9Prix Pictet:
‘The theme of the sixth cycle of the Prix Pictet Photography Prize is Disorder.’

On the shortlist, Artificial Wonderland; the Sunday Times Magazine caption 1NOV15 says ‘A sprawling digital collage depicts a dystopian vision of the Chinese future, where the greying landscape has become overrun by construction, debris and skyscrapers’. See also the Artist’s Statement on the link:

These are powerful shots, and a summer storm at that. My first thoughts back in Oct were whether or not the storm was tending towards asperitas; but since the inventor himself made no comment, I guess not.
From your pictures in later posts, you seem to be shooting almost down on Fuzhou city from the east?

Howard BrownParticipantI think it should really be called a cap cloud. The Cloud Collector’s Handbook pp58-59 says ‘…a cap cloud forms as a stable airstream rises to pass over a peak, cooling as it does so. It is a particular example of a lenticularis species…’
And yes, HH, GP-P captions his picture ‘…a pink-fluffy-bobble-hat cloud.’

Howard BrownParticipantGini, we are thinking of you.
How about Daniel Chang’s eagle, about 15 hours before your post? That should set spirits soaring.
Or talking of soaring, how about Mike Rubin’s fine pileus recently #82520, O&E #35?
Cheers, ‘H’
Howard BrownParticipantHoward BrownParticipantHarris’s book is Weatherland…
Davidson’s book is
Two of Harris’s comments caught my ear ‘part of the poetry of being alive’ and ’emotional connection from the arts’.
Whilst presenter Matthew Sweet invited his guests to ‘Schafernaker around’:

Alex Harris makes a passing reference to the conference at the end of the discussion (she was a speaker I believe). She and Peter Davidson have new books out.
