The Aspiring Asperatus
The cloud of the month for December is the Altocumulus asperatus undulatus. It is the cloud that aspires to be recognised, as it is a formation that is yet to be recognised by the World Meteorological Organisation. This dramatic example over Newtonia, Missouri, US, was one of a sequence of images sent in by Elaine Patrick.
