A study in the different states of contrails, and as Adam highlights, it's a glimpse into the state of the upper atmosphere at different altitudes, at any given moment. This juxtaposition of at least three different contrails was spotted over Cleveland, Ohio, US.

No filtration at the time of taking the image – but subsequent (modest) tonal adjustments are made in PhotoShop to emphasise the impact of the sky.
A good monochrome photo, especially when used for landscapes, portraiture etc, takes some beating. This is one such example. Did you use an orange or red filter when taking this view to accenturate the drama in the clouds ? Great shot, Stephen.
