Cirrus homogenitus as a result of aircraft condensation trails, also known as contrails, in the upper atmosphere. When these types of clouds persist and evolve towards a more natural appearance, its cloud classification changes from homogenitus to homomutatus. This example was spotted over Abergavenny, Wales.
Remnants of contrails that form into high level cirrus clouds via homogenitus, which is when clouds develop as a result of human activity such as from aircraft condensation trails; i.e., contrails. In this instance, it has taken on the look of "feathers" in this view near El Dorado Hills, California, US.

Cirrus vertebratus homogenitus forms as a result of an aircraft condensation trail (contrail). The spine of the cloud begins as a contrail and is aligned to the flow of the high winds, whose water droplets freeze into ice crystals that fall below into slower, moister airflows. This variation was spotted over Kenilworth Gardens, Melksham, England.
