Ruth QuistParticipantDeborah, I can imagine how many interesting responses you may receive with your question of camera choices. Like Michael has stated, a nice brand name digital camera is very sweet way to go. I actually now own four digital cameras with different zoom potentials. I am still working with all the cameras I have collected over the past few years. All of my cameras have fixed lens and are fairly light weight and easy to put in a fanny pack if I am biking or walking. I would start with figuring out your budget and even considering looking at a used camera from one of the photo stores. I happened to use B & H Photo out of New York City. They are great with used cameras and have a nice chat room for any questions. I read a lot of camera reviews and YouTube viewing before making a purchase. I see that many cloud members use their smartphones for cloud photos. My phone is not that great, but for a quick picture that can work. I am new with taking pictures and learning about clouds. It has become a fantastic and rewarding pastime. Take your time with a purchase and enjoy the learning curve. Please let us know what you decide and post your pictures.
Ruth QuistParticipantMichael and Keelin, always great shots. Happy first day of summer. So fortunate that our temps are mild compared to Texas.
A Lock Of Hair

Ruth QuistParticipantBill, stunning photos from your airplane. That must be the best way to cloud spot!!
Majestic

Ruth QuistParticipantHans, thanks for the comment. This is a cloud formation that kind of grows on a person. May be like catching a fish for the first time.
An Open Field

Ruth QuistParticipantMichael, your last two pictures are dynamite. No, #929 wins.

Ruth QuistParticipantMarie, I think you may have caught some Asperities in your first photo. That would be the wavy clouds in the middle. Both photos are powerful. You may appreciate a more experienced observer’s comment.
Ruth QuistParticipantNice mamma in #1431 Michael. I am finally seeing some pileus myself this last week.
Hans, on the move is very delicate and wispy.
Facing North

Ruth QuistParticipantAs Hans just mentioned, all great photos. Michael, #251 #252 #253 I really love.
