Hans StockerParticipantWith pleasure George. Nice video you found. Good luck with the cloudspotter.

One lost its shadow….#2
Hans StockerParticipantThanks for sharing Hygge. I did not know a rainbow was possible from snow.

Hans StockerParticipantThank you Keelin. I hope so too.
Hans StockerParticipantThat’s a nice catch Keelin! Flashy.

Part of a distant rainbow
Hans StockerParticipantThat must be an Arctic Explorer in very good condition, Keelin. Great anatomy of the sky.

Hans StockerParticipantNot cloud related maybe, but a very peculiar phenomenon Laurence. Thanks for sharing.
Hans StockerParticipantIt is a good advise to choose the right diaphragm, Michael. Sometimes I am trusting too much the automatic functions. Thinking about the right diaphragm beforehand prevents disappointment afterwards. I am keen on the diaphragm when doing macro, but not yet when I photograph clouds.
Detail: I suppose your camera goes far beyond the 250 ASA you mentioned. The camera can choose the ASA value automatically if you want to, but I am sure you know that too. The really high values makes photographing with little light possible. The price to pay is some granularity (noise).
Next is one that looks unsharp, but isn’t. I assume it is the subject itself. Taken at f/14, 1/100, ISO-100, 117 mm.

X-ray, Nothing Broken
Hans StockerParticipantThanks Michael. And you managed to produce At the Studio this frosty look Keelin likes so much (and me too).

Just A Touch Of Makeup
Hans StockerParticipantGeorge, I understand the circumstances for you are there to spot Crowtrail. Time and the right moment is an issue nevertheless. I already saw some nice examples from you. I look forward for more. Maybe also a new timelapse from you?
A little film i found on YouTube: 747 Crow. The Boeing 747 seems to have the wingtips needed to give the right vortices.
I do have some time myself indeed being retired. I have had a lot of fun with the cloudspotter app competing with my brother in law who I once got enthusiastic about using it. I am missing the tuba and the cap cloud. For the tuba one must not be sorry that they are very rare over here. The cap cloud needs something higher than just dunes. So it may take long for these to spot I think.
