Who Likes the Cloud Appreciation Society?

We are fast approaching a new milestone in the development of the society: 30,000 members. But we have also just past another. The number of people who “like” the Cloud Appreciation Society Facebook Page has just exceeded 10,000. It is always nice to know about fellow cloudspotters so we thought visitors might like an insight into the average age and sex of the people who like the Facebook page. It seems that most likes come from users in the 35-44 age range, with a greater proportion of these being female than male:

I went to a Cloud Appreciation Society event in Devizes last Sunday – loved it. I learnt about lenticular clouds – it took me three days to get the name in my head but I’ve got it now – at least for the moment. I’m on the look out for one but don’t think Devizes has the right topography – oh well you never know when a mountain might turn up.

These days, it seems, we have to embrace different ways of communicating in order to get our message out there. The Cloud Appreciation Society’s own website will, of course, always be the most important one for us but we feel that having a Facebook page is a useful addition, as is a Twitter feed.
Who knows whether the statistics that Facebook provide for visitors to the page are representative of the visitors to the website generally? Quite possibly not. I do agree that “55+” is not exactly the most helpful way of breaking down age ranges. That is the way they present the statistics, though.
It is not exactly important news but I thought visitors might find it interesting.

I agree about the ages, Tim. I would suggest there are quite a few of us on the Forum in our 60’s and 70’s.

OK facebook, I did the like thing to be supportive, though overall I find facebook dull, especially when people tell me they are goign to the store. But my bigger question is your age graph ends with 55 years and over. Is that a cliff we go over with no definition or identity once we pass that age?

I personally LOVE the CAS, but don’t care one iota about facebook. I just hope that the Cloud Appreciation Society doesn’t get so big that I can’t access it anymore with out a fb account. No fb for me, thanks. I am actually surprised that it is just now over 10,000 though, I tell any one who will listen about the CAS(not that I have told that many people of course) But, clouds are AWESOME!!!!!

Do you have a district distribution diagram? I come from Hong Kong. It seems that not many people care about clouds in Hong Kong.
