A really dramatic, monochrome picture on a fine day in the middle of winter, Phil, made all the more dramatic with the distant, craggy, snowy mount Blanc Massif range mountains in France on the other-side of the sea or river of stratus being in deep shadow, making them look quite spooky, with the highest point in France, Mt Blanc, 4,807m with a white cloud cap on. In complete contrast, the snowy foreground is in full sun! Nobody knows what lurkes beneath the sea of river of stratus! Rebecca Hill, Canberra, Australia

A distrail, short for "dissipation trail", occurs when an aircraft passes through a cloud and it turns the water droplets in the cloud into gas or ice. This distrail is seen slicing its way through a layer of cirrostratus over Kianga, New South Wales, Australia.
