During an afternoon that Wei describes as windy, there were dozens of large horseshoe vortex cloud formations developing one after another, as seen here with this horshoe vortex over Zhongshan Road, Xiamen, China.

Horseshoe vortex, which forms in a region of rotating air, or vortex. This relatively rare and fleeting cloud formation appears for only a few minutes before evaporating. This horseshoe vortex was spotted over Rufford, West Lancashire, England.
