Altocumulus volutus, also known as a Roll cloud, is a unique formation that is produced by atmospheric gravity waves. These invisible waves caused elongated areas of rising air that cooled enough to produce parallel bands of this cloud, upwards of 300 kilometres in length, spotted over New South Wales, Australia.
