Cirrus spissatus, which is a thick cirrus cloud, is often accompanied by other species of cirrus clouds within close proximation. These clouds can be formed by a conglomerate of cirrus clouds at high altitudes, and separate from that origin, they can also form from the remnants of a dissipating thunderstorm that once had a fibrous top. This example of cirrus spissatus was spotted over Thumrait, Southern Oman, near the Yemeni border.

Fog is sometimes described as a ground-level Stratus cloud, since that’s the lowest of the main clouds. However, it often forms quite differently. In this photograph, it appears that this is valley fog for the most part, which is a variation of "radiation fog" after a cool and clear night, wherein the cold, foggy air sinks downhill and gathers further below. This classic example was spotted over Pauatahanui Inlet, north of Wellington, New Zealand.
