Anti-crepuscular rays can sometimes be viewed when looking opposite of the setting sun, as they appear when tall clouds in front of the rising or setting sun cast long shadows across the sky, which can be seen receding off into the distance when facing away from the Sun. This classic example was spotted over Scottsbluff, Nebraska, US.

Such a beautiful picture of the Aurora Borealis over the Lofoten Islands, Norway in summer, Spencer!
The snow capped polar peaks of the islands certainly stand out in the light!
I thought that Aurora Borealis occurred more often in winter, from what I have read about. Perhaps the further north or south you go, the more frequently you can see this spectacular phenomenon at any time of the year. Nice to know it also occurs in summer as well.
