Ramona EdwardsParticipant
Love it, Hans! I am curious what type of birds soar like this in the Netherlands? I have been a “bird nerd” for many years, but I am limited to my own little piece of the world.
Ramona EdwardsParticipantNice, Keelin! I have to admit that I googled pareidolia to see what it meant, though! LOL I love the rain splattered foreground!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantCool! I have mostly seen iridescence around the sun in ring type formations – this horizontal iridescence is fascinating!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantI have been studying the International Cloud Atlas and trying to learn how to classify clouds. Looking at this image, are the fluffy ones in the front cumulus and the lighter ones in the back altocumulus? Are they trying to be KH clouds or are the wave like parts just coincidental? Thanks!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantOh, but you have a CAT, Hans! I am sure you can find a cloud that resembles him/her!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantThis is kind of a backwards process, but I looked in the mirror the other day and “saw” a photo I had taken earlier of “curlicue clouds”. Yes, I DO have my head in the clouds! Oh wait! Is there a rule against having a person in the image posted?! I need to go check that, even though my face is not visible…
Ramona EdwardsParticipantAh, great one, Hans!! I love it!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantAwwww, I can just my little elephant playing in the waves now!! Thanks for the image!!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantIt must have been from the tornadoes, Hans, as I have never seen anything like this in our skies, either. And I spend a LOT of time looking at the sky, LOL! This was looking eastward in the early evening and it doesn’t even come close to any sunset colors I have seen in the eastern sky. They have confirmed six tornadoes that evening and are still looking at damage to see if there were more than that!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantHans, I love your iridescence photos! I love capturing the colors, also! This photo is not iridescent, but rather an odd color. There were multiple tornadoes in the surrounding areas when this was taken, although we did not have one at our location. I posted this on Facebook and numerous people commented that they also saw strange colors in the sky after the storms. The skies were actually very yellow before this, but I was not able to capture an image of that.
Ramona EdwardsParticipantI don’t see a delete option – is there one?
Thanks!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantAhhhh, good point(s), Hans! I should pay more attention to the thread that I post in! I love your KH clouds! I have been watching the skies a lot the last few days and I have seen what appear to be many of these developing and dissipating very quickly – I can see why it is hard to capture them in a photograph! I am actually a photographer first, and then a cloud fan, and I have quite a bit of time during the day to go outside with my camera and watch the clouds develop. It is cool to be learning about them and watching them! I will see if I can delete this image and repost it somewhere else!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantWe had some turbulent weather on Monday and I delighted in watching and photographing the clouds! I had to chuckle at this one, as it looks like some sort of animal, running out of the photo to the right with an arm held high and legs churning as it runs.
Ramona EdwardsParticipantLOVE this one!!
Ramona EdwardsParticipantLove the dramatic contrast on this image! Between this photo and the previous one, by Michael, I could sit for an entire day studying the wide variety of clouds and layers here!
