Slip Sliding AwayYou’re more than welcome, Jenna! Letting the audience partake in the story telling is a fantastic idea. You just never know where it will take you – and isn’t that half the fun? If you wander through some of the other forum topics, especially the many volumes of Black and White, you’ll find several instances of spontaneous narrative prompted by the clouds posted there. The exchanges have been whimsical, poetic, inspiring, and often hilarious.
While spelunking through my archives here, I came across this one below. Here are a couple of frisky pups to keep your poodle with the too big nose at play.
Michael, you can bet I had my eyes on the skies up in Portland, but much to my surprise, they were relatively cloud free! Heading home, the scene was nothing as dramatic as your Arizonas #65 & #21, but more promising than what I’d found over the weekend.
In this one, Little Bear points to a drifting cumulus as Big Bear reminds him in a celestial puff, “This is the stuff of which we are made.”
Hi Jenna. You’ve surely come to the right place regarding your quest. I’ll take a look in my archives and see if there are any images that fit your list. Meanwhile, I recall Hans Stocker posted a photo on April 14th titled “Old Man revisited in blue” to the relatively new forum topic Clouds-that-look-like-things. And three images below it, there’s “Cloud Dog Going For The Frisbee” by Michael. Of course, there are other photos sprinkled throughout the various forums that might fit your needs, but those two came immediately to mind.
The premise of your ‘Cloud Tales’ sounds delightful! I love the idea of clouds telling stories and the boost it gives to a sense of playful pareidolia we all do well to hold on to. A beautiful launch for Volume IV Clouds of Colour, Michael! Hard to believe how quickly we reached the limit in Volume 3 which ended with those spectacular wild vistas by you and Hans.
Having been out of town and out of reach for a more than a week left me hungry to see what others have been seeing. Looking up held some comfort, knowing it’s the same sky that connects us all.
Below, a sky that surprised me with its unexpected sprinkle of bright spots holding out against stormy greys. I decided to leave in the tip of a tree in this time to give some sense of scale.
Is your Old Man In Blue dancing, Hans, or just out enjoying a fresh breeze? I love the flow of his long, unbridled hair. And your Salad Servers are hilarious. No calories in cumulus!
Heading to a wedding in Portland, Oregon tomorrow (should find a few clouds there!). Anticipating the joyous event must surely be nudging my pareidolia towards nuptial interpretations. The couple below appear already in the mood for celebration.
Wedding DanceThis is the surprise of that sunrise, Hans! The color shift was fascinating to watch on the quiet approach to the harbor. Here is another photo from the series where you can see how the peach turned pink and the blue took on a new shade as well.

Catching Sunrise In KetchikanWhat a gorgeous photo, Ariana! The headlands above the bay, where I imagine you were positioned to take this shot, are always chilly and quite windy. Your timing and willingness to endure the elements are appreciated! Hope to see more from you here on the forums.

22˚ SaturnThose supernumeraries are fun to see in all their intense glory, Hans, so thank you for posting the enhanced version. And I had to laugh at the vision you offered of a charcoal dusting in your chase of treasure. No doubt many cloudspotters have endured similar fates tramping through muddy bogs and dusty plains in pursuit of the ever ethereal wonders above.
The image below is obviously tweaked with contrast and noise, but I like the otherworldly effect it delivers — like some kind of magical seascape. Wonders above, wonders below.
