James MorrisonParticipant
Thanks for the replies. Ha, in only a few seconds after I saw the split sun and reflection in the water that I started thinking of Tatooine! I am looking forward to Rogue One.
I’m new to sky watching, and while I have seen some “flashy” sunrises and sunsets in my life, it wasn’t until I started paying attention every day that I noticed how frequently some parts of the sky look “unreal.” I’m sure that won’t come as a surprise to all you more experienced spotters. There’s so much happening up there, all the time!
For instance, here’s a red rainbow that I luckily saw last night after simply turning around and walking to my car after watching the sunset. It’s the first red rainbow that I’ve ever seen. But I’m betting it can’t be that I just happened to see last night the only red rainbow that’s ever been on display around me in entire lifetime. Surely I just never paid enough attention until yesterday and I’ve missed many of them. I sure am glad I started being more aware of the sky and clouds. Thanks again to the forum and the Cloudspotter app for encouraging my new hobby.
James MorrisonParticipantThanks. Those are decent sized fish to be cast about in the air.
I just discovered this “strange Weather” show last week. Who knew about “spider rain?”
Strangest WeatherJames MorrisonParticipantNice picture. Yes, Rothokos in person can come to life in a way that reminds me of watching clouds. I wonder if there’s any correlation between cloudspotters and people who like abstract art.
I took this picture last night. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The phone’s camera changed the natural colors a bit, but not by much.
SunsetJames MorrisonParticipantNice to see all the goodwill! And, if I can thank everyone again, let me do so, because the more I use the app, the more I see just how much work people put into the evaluation process. Not only do they have a high volume of photos to sort through, but also they are clearly spending a lot of time and energy peering at the pictures, trying to spot what may, or may not, be in the images. I know from my own experience that the validators are finding some hard-to-see phenomenon in my photos, and I appreciate it. And it’s been so helpful getting feedback.
I could go on and on, but I can’t praise the nature of the app enough and the people working on it. There’s no way I’d be into cloud spotting remotely as much as I am without them and the app. Well done, everyone.
