Howard BrownParticipant
Very interesting… My 1969 RK Pilsbury says ‘Only in Scotland’ (in the UK). atopics says ‘At least twice since 1996’ in England and shows 29JAN2000 – did he know from Ian of the FEB1996 Lincs picture one wonders.
‘As rare as nacreous in England’…
Howard BrownParticipantColin, I guess that is you – College Valley Cell on Flickr – so thanks for bring it here too. I really fell for your cell – such contrasts in shapes, colour etc.
Last year we had a regular contributor Anita at the other end of Hadrians Wall from you in Westmorland. You might enjoy her time lapse video of the Helm Bar:

RE: Mammatus
Hallo, Colin good to see and hear from you. Goodly capture there, and I take your point that this is NE England. Mammatus are not that rare in the UK, so you are calling out the size, I guess – I don’t know if the size is unusual for UK, anyone else?
CAS has long had a saying, way back at the launch of this forum, ‘As rare as fog in Phoenix’.
It might have been ‘As rare as arcus in Lincolnshire’ but it is not so alliterative:

N.B. Ian Loxley seems to have withdrawn many of his pictures from the old forum, but found this one in the CAS Gallery.Howard BrownParticipantHallo again, Mike – ‘H’ from the old one. Almost blue greys you got there.
Re comments – only thought I have is that GP-P said something about temporarily disabling profiles (and he is away this week)?
Howard BrownParticipantMikeL, you have really kick-started the new Forum, and thank you for it.
On B&W, as you know I admire your B&W pix and sometimes term them your Armani mode – your first one above would qualify. But I would ask that you make clear when you are in that mode e.g. your timely and superb opening topic:
is, I believe in colour. But asperatus in particular tends to look monochrome.hygge is point&shoot at best so will stick with colour, I fear.

Howard BrownParticipantFRESHNESS
Likewise at the start the ‘Freshness’ does not refresh until you leave it and return.
But having returned you no longer have an EDIT function offered, hence this ‘reply’.
Talk about Walk On The Wild Side (Nelson/Jimmy Smith version just played on BBC R3 JRR).
Howard BrownParticipantHallo again AK, so glad you got back. On TV this p.m. was the war movie capturing an enigma m/c from a sub.
Your pic looks great but only in thumbnail size as yet. GP-P wrote in an early thread, probably from Graham:
‘By the way, you can add a photo to your profile (could be anything) by clicking on your name and using the Change Profile Photo link.’
Like Airhead I have not yet found Change Profile Photo…
EDIT: I note the Topic list does not change dynamically – you have to leave it and return.
