Concerning your current photo: The cloud appears to be the result of incoming warm ocean air rising over land into colder atmosphere thus the condensing of moisture and probably the stationery nature of the cloud. While not stacked up, the length and narrowness seems a stretched lenticular. Yes at least at altocumulus level.

Michael LerchParticipantThanks Keelin!,,That shot took some amount of almost micro adjustments in Lightroom. Knowing that my photos darken a bit in transition to CAS, I even adjusted for that. I really tried to get it to look like it did in real life. It was a moment of witnessing a natural beauty. Your Closeout Wave is attractive. Luv the Blu Wave
