I thought that with a new year can come a new Odds & Ends topic as the last one was getting old and long.

To open it, I just uploaded a video to YouTube of a timelapse taken yesterday evening. I drove over the North Downs on the M25 from the M23 junction. Up there it was patchy fog, swirling around the lights, while a 5 foot clear gap on the ground allowed me to see well enough to maintain 70mph. It was quite mesmerising. The video can be found here: https://youtu.be/OU__grH-rm0

Here is a frame grab (doesn’t do it justice as the detail isn’t so clear in one frame):

      Thanks!

Lordi, Lordi quite a kickstart to #36, MikeL. Are you sure it was not dry ice up there?

I say kickstart – I suppose that was for old motorbikes, perhaps modern ones have a starter button. But you ride bikes and drive cars. Nice driving.

My motorbike does indeed have an electric starter just like a car. I think some motocross or trials type bikes can still be found with kickstarts but most road bikes have electric starters.

Hehe not listened to Lordi in quite a few years. Was a fun gig back in 2009.

My apologies – I use MikeL to avoid confusion with Mike but nevertheless have put my foot in it.

Funny you should mention dry ice clouds. Look what I spotted a week ago in Kentish Town:

I like to call them ‘stage clouds’. :)

      Eagles vs Drones
We have mentioned both in the CAS Forum, now they come together

P.S. Bernard Lagan reports in The Times (UK) 9FEB16 that Aussie black kites and brown falcons spread bush fires for their own benefit (flushing out prey).

      Moonset

Seeing the moonset yesterday, and as I write today, it strikes me I rarely get to see moonset.

And I don’t recall ever seeing a moonset picture with clouds….

Mike mentioned his new GoPro camera in the Above The Clouds thread. It seems the BBC used them in what it claims is a world first in TV:

Looks impressive. A cube of GoPros. Kinda looks a bit like a Borg mothership lol. Nothing can escape its gaze and we will be assimilated!

I heard the name Ellie Nino on radio recently. I wonder if the parents were weather watchers. There is a Ninon in my local directory.

I finally had time to upload my timelapse of rather dynamic shower clouds on Tuesday 26th April 2016. See https://youtu.be/GROKoi9_Lho
