      Is this mamma

This photo was taken directly underneath the clouds with a 24mm lens, i.e camera pointing directly skywards in Manchester, England 10 days ago. There was definitely stratocumulus across the whole of my visible sky but these funny shaped appeared. These where in a cluster and they where not widespread. No precipitation came from these. and a few hours after the sky cleared. I know mamma is associated with Sc clouds, I could not see any protuberances dangling down, but I am assuming the dark patches are the result of cold air within the cloud sinking and these are still classed as mamma. Your help in confirming my suspicions or correcting me is greatly appreciated. Craig Loftus

Great capture Craig. For me no doubt. This must be mamma. When you look it up in the ICA and check Stratocumulus plus mamma, you will find a similar situation and a good description. This is the link for Supplematary features of Stratocumulus. Just click on the link for mamma.
      Greetings, Hans
