      Great catch, but I do have to say NASA is not very good at cloud classification. According to ICA, castellanus is a specie and “This term applies to Cirrus, Cirrocumulus, Altocumulus and Stratocumulus.” So not “part of the genus cumulonimbus”, as NASA says.

      Castellanus indeed indicates marked vertical instability and the conditions may lead to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds. But we are not there yet.
