Mamma Mia!
The Cloud of the Month for August is a display of mamma clouds photographed by Kamila Mazurkiewicz over Puławy, Poland. Named after the Latin for ‘udders’, this cloud formation is at its most dramatic when it appears on the underside of the huge anvil canopy that spreads out at the top of a Cumulonimbus storm cloud. There are a number of theories as to how these clouds form, but no one is quite sure of the exact processes at work. Whatever their cause, these ones had many admirers when they were revealed to the world on our photo gallery earlier this month.

It reminds of of some sort of reverse boiling. Always a pleasure to view! It would be interesting to fly directly into these pockets to feel the turbulence. Bill K

Undoubtedly a great picture, what equipment was used to capture this image, are we talking high tech or a mere smartphone, it would be interesting to know what cameras people are using when they capture these fantastic images.
