We have now moved the society’s Cloud Forum from an external server onto our own one. We hope this new forum will be a way for members to interact with each other.
1) To contribute to the Cloud Forum, you have to be logged in as a member of The Cloud Appreciation Society. If you are a member but don’t know your login details we can send them to you. Just get in touch at membership@cloudappreciationsociety.org.
2) We’ve archived the old cloud forum. We will keep this online for a while as a reference.
3) If you want to add an image to your forum post please follow the instructions in the forum topic about image uploads.
We would love to hear our members’ thoughts – so long as they are about clouds. Otherwise, we’re not interested.

I am very happy to have this new forum. I look forward to taking more pictures and talking with others across the world. Thank you. Lorraine in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. North Carolina’s nickname is “Land of the Sky” because in these mountains, we can see the sky change moment to moment. And we always have clouds!

Lorraine, It is great to have you onboard. I didn’t know that about North Carolina!

I too thank you for the new forum, even if here in the North East of England we do not have many exiting formations! I hope you continue to drop the odd newsletter and good luck for the future.

Jeff I’d say that up North you’re bound to have more interesting clouds than down South (I’m in London). More often than not you’ll be in the lee of the hills and mountains that can generate lovely envious lenticulars. :D One of my favourite clouds.

I love clouds, but, boo hoo, I live in San Francisco, no rain, no clouds. I am contenting myself with re-reading The Cloudspotter’s Guide. Sort of like a starving gourmet reading cookbooks. I have to enjoy the clouds on your website. Thanks for creating it.

Carol, if you follow @CloudAppSoc on Periscope, the new live-stream video platform from Twitter, you’ll be able to see me talk about interesting clouds over England. You just need to get the Periscope app (for iOS or Android). It has only been going for 2 months, and is an amazing way to see what is happening right now on the other side of the world. I’m doing a scope when I get a chance and there is something interesting in the sky to talk about.

Gavin, I downloaded Periscope on my iPad, and figured out how to follow you. I assume I will get a notice when you are filming the clouds and talking about them. Does Periscope save old videos or is it only live? That could be a problem with the time difference!!!!

Carol, You’ve probably worked it out by now, but the way Periscope works is that you get a notification when someone you follow is doing a scope. If you can’t watch it live, the scope is automatically available on the Periscope server to watch within the next 24 hours. So the time difference is not an issue. I haven’t been doing any scopes recently, as I have been so busy with preparing for the CAS Conference. I am, however, hoping to stream content from the conference using Periscope for those who are unable to attend. Have you found Periscope interesting?

I’d like to contact some of the contributors about providing images for a book. How do I do that?
