Rebecca Dix (Member 66,548) spotted this skyscape over Weston-super-Mare, on the coast of Somerset, England. The fanned pattern of the higher clouds is the variety known as radiatus. To the left, the cloud is clumpy, so this would be Altocumulus radiatus. The Altocumulus appears to have frozen at the right and middle of the image, so this part would be called Cirrus radiatus altocumulogenitus (the last term meaning that the ice-crystal cloud started life as an Altocumulus). And there on the horizon, beyond Knightstone Causeway, a Cumulus conguestus cloud builds up through the troposphere as it waits in line for an ice cream.
