A dynamic view of Mt. Fuji at sunset, a dormant volcano, wherein the manifestation of a lee wave brought about what appears to be a variation of, and/or the remnants of, a lenticular cloud formation. This is a result of stable air flowing over a mountain barrier, generating wave updrafts and turbulence on the lee side. Multiple displays of altocumulus lenticularis, including an example of lenticularis duplicatus, which is also known via the French term, 'pile d'assiettes', for a 'stack of plates'. These classic examples of lenticularis were spotted near Antelope Valley, California, US.
