Definitely a 5* rating from me. This must be a strong candidate for CAS’s “Cloud Of The Month”, I think.

Grand shot, Richard. It must have been a real something to see for real. Lucky you! Thanks.

    Laurence

PS. Should one day I go to Heaven then this is something I’d hope to see!

Taken from a B737-800. The black object is part of the windscreen wiper assembly. Photo exposure about 15 seconds (we’re moving at 500mph and bouncing around so there is some blurring.

I’m intrigued, Richard: flight deck of what exactly? Doesn’t look like the front end (or any other end) of a commercial airliner, but 36,000 feet is pretty high for anything else. Military transport, perhaps?

Not just sheep n' sheep symmetry but also the valley dip line is mirrored in the cloud. A lovely picture, Richard.

  2. Frank Le Blancq avatar Frank says:

Nice panoramic shot. Interesting that the French refer to small clouds like this as 'moutons' i.e. sheep. So we have moutons looking at the moutons!

  1. Stunning shot, Richard; I remember seeing loads of these from the top of Moel Famau, and a beautiful sight they were, too!

    Kind regards from Anglesey.

Very interesting image Richard – we are used to seeing angry and intimidating cumulo nimbus, and here we have one that is elegant, well groomed and rather beautiful! Thanks.
