Very different (and original) picture, Jeff. It seems that there is a curtanin behind (clouds) and something standing in front (contrails) make strong the feeling of having two different (vertical) layers. Congrats!

I would think it unusual to catch such spectacular Lenticulars outside mountainous regions..!

I remember this on Look North. Brilliant photo! I also seem to remember seeing this from my home in Leeds, although it was not as spectacular as this photo.
This is an amazing lenticularis. The BBC is showing pictures of several of these clouds all over Yorkshire, apparently occuring at one time. Slightly creepy but stunning and good photography.
