Hi folks.  Are there any teachers or parents here?  I’m putting together some weather activities for kids and I’d love to get some feedback.  You can see the activities on my website ( under the “National Weather Service — Weather Projects” heading.

There are three activities for now, but I’d like to add more.  The activities come from the NWS’s Jetstream website ( and I’ve added a little introduction and a slight detective theme.  You can also see a cloud activity toward the top of the page.

Do these look fun for kids?  Could I improve them?

Also, if you’re looking for a last minute Christmas gift for a young relative, I wrote a book!  It’s called “The Weather Detectives” and it’s a fictional weather-themed mystery set in the Caribbean, written for 9-14 year olds.  The plot is interspersed with neat weather-themed stories like the race to the South Pole and the development of RADAR in World War II.  You can check it out here:  I put a lot of time and care into it, so let me know if you have any questions.

Finally, here’s a cloud picture I took from a plane!
