Hi folks.  Are there any teachers or parents here?  I’m putting together some weather activities for kids and I’d love to get some feedback.  You can see the activities on my website (https://www.weatherdetectives.org/activities) under the “National Weather Service — Weather Projects” heading.

There are three activities for now, but I’d like to add more.  The activities come from the NWS’s Jetstream website (https://www.weather.gov/jetstream/) and I’ve added a little introduction and a slight detective theme.  You can also see a cloud activity toward the top of the page.

Do these look fun for kids?  Could I improve them?

Also, if you’re looking for a last minute Christmas gift for a young relative, I wrote a book!  It’s called “The Weather Detectives” and it’s a fictional weather-themed mystery set in the Caribbean, written for 9-14 year olds.  The plot is interspersed with neat weather-themed stories like the race to the South Pole and the development of RADAR in World War II.  You can check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/Weather-Detectives-Kelvin-McCloud-Mysteries/dp/1943431698.  I put a lot of time and care into it, so let me know if you have any questions.

Finally, here’s a cloud picture I took from a plane!
