ParticipantA lovely lacunosus finale by Hans wrapped up an impressive collection of clouds for Color ThreadVolume XIV. Ruth, I was gently swept away with the color transition in your untitled sunset shot (August 18th). And Michael, #1455 is a triple-layered beauty.
And onward we go…

ParticipantLove the clouds ready to catch the moon should she lose her footing in #156, Michael.
And what a fine cloud-catching mirror your lake makes, Ruth.
Hans, I love the subtle blush you’ve captured there. Was it because the sky caught you looking at it—again?

ParticipantKeelin, hallo again from hygge. It does have the supercillium (eyebrow) turbulent features but CAS does emphasise mountains, not sure why:
“Supercilium are short-lived cloud features, which appear in turbulent airflow over, and to the immediate lee of, steep mountain peaks during periods of strong mountain summit level winds.”See: The image shown here was used as our March 2022 Cloud of the Month.

ParticipantThanks, Hygge, for the helpful reminder about mountains tending to be where supercillium occurs. The photo was actually taken in Colorado where there are mountains aplenty, but I think in this case it was more likely just raggedy clouds that brought that category to mind.
Love the quiet, shimmering scene you’ve captured in Need Sunglasses, Ruth. And congratulations on your stunning sunset featured as Cloud of the Day, January 21, 2024. Gorgeous colors!
Ah Michael, if I could just reach into #182 and pick up that pretty cloud quill pen, surely poetic words flow.
