I just realized to have posted number 100 in black & White Volume XII. So here is the start for the next and ominous volume XIII. May this volume give the same luck we found in former volumes or even more under this number.
The Wind Comes From The Left -
February 21, 2019 at 11:47 pm #331315Patricia L KeelinParticipant
Beautiful layering in your Untitled wrap up of Volume XII, Hans, and a fabulous, feathery start to Volume XII! Who knows where the Wind will take us next, but there’s no doubt it will be a fun ride with plenty of surprises along the way.

Talk about unexpected! I’ve never seen anything quite like your #801 and #802, Michael. They are fantastic! Was the entire sky filled with this spectacle? I can’t imagine how astonishing that would be. Hope to see more of these if you have a collection.
Aeolus Hovering
-
March 23, 2019 at 11:31 pm #335695Howard BrownParticipant
Aeolus, Keeper of the Winds, was new to me, Keelin, (too narrowly educated) so thank you – yes, I see him there as you describe in a later post.
He has a strange set of symbols: Jar/Open Bag, Harp

-
February 26, 2019 at 12:11 am #331900Michael LerchParticipant
Thanks Keelin! I have a few more from that shoot. Low altocum made a great textured background for the cumulus drifting underneath . The light was a challenge also because basically only the south western sky had the altocum AND the lower cumulus fractus. I had to be patient. Its strange I shot a similar event right before the hard drive crashed. So like a week later this 2nd event occurred. Below is for now one of my favorite from the shoot. Maybe I get my hard drive recovered photos this week. Then there might be some more.

Very nice texture on your last three Michael. Hope the lost ones will be recovered soon.
Keelin, Aeolus Hovering I like very much with its mystic and heavy atmosphere and some contrasting mamma underneath. Great composition.
Something´s Burning
-
February 27, 2019 at 1:50 am #332085Patricia L KeelinParticipant
Ah, I can see why that’s a favorite, Michael. The optical illusion has my eye flipping between interpreting the altocumulus as foreground shadow and background pattern. Fun!
And I like that subtle horizontal pattern of little “flames” you caught in Something’s Burning, Hans. Glad you caught it before the cumulus doused it.
When You’re Hot
PS: Hans, can you see the head of Aeolus in that previous image? He’s quite subtle, but there ~~ hovering in the upper right quarter, just to the left of the dark right corner. His rounded head of hair is white and he’s looking down with right eye closed, the bridge of his nose softly highlighted, mouth open to sing his Ode to Wind.

The last days I had some trouble to get logged in but today the issue is solved and I can react on Aeolus Hovering, which I wanted to reply on much earlier. I really tried to find Aeolus Keelin, but I am not sure I found him despite the help you gave to find him. I know he must be there! I still love the picture in its abstract way very much. And ‘When You’re Hot’ as well.
Arizona B&W #804 shows some nice cirrocumulus. Beautiful!
Some Flames
-
March 2, 2019 at 11:38 pm #332536Patricia L KeelinParticipant
Hans, that’s a very fine dance you’ve framed in Some Flames. And when you’re ready to quench your pareidolia pursuit, check the Clouds That Look Like thread. I’ll post a reveal there in a moment.
Meanwhile, lovely movement captured in B&W #804, Michael. And perhaps the flock of Cirrocumulus was moving in this direction as a skyful arrived here just a couple of days ago.

A nice sense of motion with a delicate river of transition in Arizona B&W#805, Michael. Very nice to “watch”. As for #806, what an amazing shot! The funny thing is, every time I look at it afresh, my eyebrows move — first up in renewed surprise, then furrowed in wonder. Love this inspiration to animation!
The image below reminds me of clouds drifting behind dreaming eyelashes…
Inner Vision
-
March 6, 2019 at 2:18 am #332987Michael LerchParticipant
Thanks Keelin! I try new ideas. I am always taking the camera to its limits and in that shot, 806, both came together for a visual workout. Focus ,contrast and design make for a constantly changing perception. With very little sharp and clear, my mind has a lot of fun with the shot. Whereas 805 goes from ambiguous amorphous grey to an exploding heavily textured black and white. Like your shot, a visual metaphor of the creativity process.

The Times also publishes a picture of Fanad Lighthouse, Co. Donegal with a fine cloudscape which is not in the above, I think (by Todor Tilev perhaps).

Hans and Michael, your images posted here over the last few weeks are a true joy to see — an elegant, exciting, unpredictable MIX — and moth holes!!
Michael, I cannot help but love what I see in your Arizona B&W#823. Pareidolia is hard to suppress and the creature that emerges has won over my heart. I looked back to your #820 and wonder if it is related? Or is it just my imagination doing what it does?
A bit of cloud in the Colorado skies reminded me of one that drifted through your AZ skies in #813.

Well Hans Im A Bit Worried About Monsoon Season Here. Its the 3rd week of May and have only seen two days of 100F so far. Its cooler now than it was May 1. As I type the doors and windows are open letting in the cool breeze. It rained again last night. Its supposed to be the dry season. With no 110F + days there is no pump to bring up the moist air from the subtropics,,no Monsoon. But there is still 6 weeks before the normal start of Monsoon,so we’ll see.
