Patricia L KeelinParticipantWhat an impressive wrap up to B&W volume XVIII with the finishing polishes from Richard, Ruth and Michael. A review of that collection holds surprises that still astonish. And here we go again…

Hans StockerParticipantWhat a great start for Volume XIX Keelin with Onward. But before going on I must refer to your Floccus In Bloom in the former Volume. A favorite of mine for sure as is “a twister of sorts” by Richard, Arizona B&W #207 and #211 by Michael and the delicate Curling Event by Ruth. It is so much fun to scroll through the former thread, but now onward!

Big Wipe
-
August 4, 2021 at 11:49 pm #496834
Patricia L KeelinParticipantThank you, Michael and Hans. Can’t wait to see what surprises are in store for us here in this new volume.
Love the sleek look of those saucers, Michael, and the smooth sweep of that Big Wipe, Hans.
And now for a little texture…
Sheer Shearing -
August 6, 2021 at 3:28 am #496935
Michael LerchParticipantThe texture of clouds ..which can sand down and smooth out the rough parts of the day. Nice shot Keelin!
Arizona B&W#192

-
August 11, 2021 at 6:33 pm #497478
Patricia L KeelinParticipantThanks, Michael! I’d ever seen the clouds so rough-looking. Your #192 is more like something I could enjoy the warm comfort of. Love the subtle form there, as if something is nestled beneath (or I suppose that would actually be above) the covering.

Outlines

Duncan BulmanParticipantDefinitely my favourite from this B&W collection.
I can see this as a minimalist print hanging on a wall.

-
August 24, 2021 at 2:08 am #499127
Patricia L KeelinParticipantCan’t help but see a funny-faced creature emerging in #196, Michael. Something rather charming in his looks.
Perhaps he has the kind of thumb that would make a fine print like you’ve captured, Ruth.
And a wonderful rough contour in Outlines, Hans. Elemental and aesthetic!

Participantyou clearly have a lot of sky to play with out there in arizona, michael — looks like a lot of fun ….. saw some neat things in the cloudscape forum as well today ….. here’s something i saw while out on the coast, having lunch in the park where the old decommissioned lighthouse sits in newport, oregon

lighthouse eruptions
-
September 3, 2021 at 6:11 am #500291
Michael LerchParticipantRichard, Howdy! The Big Sky of the West presents a large easel when you can explore it with a good wide angle/telephoto and a Adobe Lightroom that can remove a power line or a bird when required. The problem is of course , the weather moves on thru very quickly here in Az making it sometimes impossible to play/work everything thats going on. That and sometimes it goes for like a couple of weeks with no clouds are my only complaints perhaps due to it is so much fun.
Nice shot on the Light House! Brought the sky down and filled the frame! Nice Example of Big Sky.
Here is some fun I had in B&W that I have already covered in Color posts

Patricia L KeelinParticipantMichael, I keep scrolling up to have another look at @198. It is such a beauty!
And wow, Richard! Are you sure that wasn’t a giant whale passing by? Love the dramatic scene you’ve captured in Lighthouse Eruptions!

Hans StockerParticipantI do have some problems for several days with posting my next B&W. I suppose it is in the text but I don’t know what to omit. So now I come up with this boring text in stead of a text with some nice things of all the great pictures above. This one was meant to follow up Keelin’s Let’s Dance!

-
September 17, 2021 at 5:37 pm #501910
Patricia L KeelinParticipantMichael, love the movement in your latest two. #1904 has a swirl that reminds me of the dance of Aurora Borealis.
And Hans, once I read your clever caption to Watch Your Steps…, I couldn’t help but see a little witch being cautious about getting out there on a spirited dance floor.
Stepping Carefully -
September 20, 2021 at 10:10 pm #502177
Hans StockerParticipantI love the last Park Shot (#904) Michael.
And I love the witch you captured, Keelin! She must have been summoned by your ‘Let’s Dance!’ and she has the moves for sure.
Next one really surprised me. I think I never captured a cloud this sharp and detailed before.

Michael LerchParticipantArizona B&W#1906

-
September 25, 2021 at 8:30 pm #502710
Ruth QuistParticipantKeelin, Stepping is always good advice. No one wants to take a fall and land in who knows what.
Hans, Fine Grid is splendid in its details. You and your camera must have agreed on that shot.
Michael, #1906, just because I live in bear country, you just captured a grizzly paw print.
Open Up The Windows

-
September 26, 2021 at 7:43 pm #502776
Patricia L KeelinParticipantIndeed, Hans, the detail in A Fine Grid is exceptional! Fantastic clarity there.
And I love the happy wiggle in #1906, Michael. Makes me wanna dance.
Ruth, I can almost feel the fresh breeze and warm sun breaking through in Open Up The Windows.
This shot is such a tiny detail of the original photo that it’s taken on the look of a monochrome watercolor. Unfortunately, all the water is in the artwork, none on the ground here.

My Mystery

-
October 6, 2021 at 3:52 am #503922
Michael LerchParticipantThanks Ruth..Lennys around here are more often distant than within decent camera range. About once a quarter there might be a good lenny show . Nearby North Mountain Park sets up lenny activity but not on any kind of predictable basis. Some lennys over northwest Phoenix below

Hans StockerParticipantMonochrome Cloudscape is a favorite of mine Keelin. Wonderful composition. And I love your last one Into The Grinder as well.
Ruth, your mustache-like Mystery made me raise my eyebrows. Mysterious, black and maybe a eyebrow-cloud?
Your #1906 and #1912 are simply great Michael. You never stop to amaze me.

Patricia L KeelinParticipantLove the calm flow in #1912, Michael, while #112 reminds me of Dante’s Inferno. Very dramatic!
And Hans, Here Comes the Sun is simply lovely.
Here is one that reminds me of a line in Mimi Farina’s song In the Quiet Morning, her touching tribute to Janis Joplin. Joan Baez (Mimi’s sister) sings it with great heart.

Hans StockerParticipantThe title Tossed By The Tides Of Misfortune and what it’s about seem to be very fitting for the turmoil you captured in the sky Keelin. And the atypical lenticular form Michael captured in #115 seems to be tossed too.

Black & Blue

-
November 8, 2021 at 12:56 am #508753
Patricia L KeelinParticipantMichael, #120 has definitely got mystery to spare. Wonder-full! And exquisite, textural detail in #121.
There’s plenty of mystery in your Black & Blue too, Ruth. I love the way what it actually is slowly emerges from what it might be.

Ruth, love your magical moonlit scenes. Deeply dark despite the full moon aglow. It even sounds quiet. Hope you didn’t get any mosquito bites while camping.

Patricia L KeelinParticipantDuncan, regardless of which orb it may be slipping behind the clouds, what a beauty you’ve captured.
Ruth, a lovely line-up! Have you ever done that type of dance?
Michael, your series of soft cloudscapes is so appealing. #128 reminds me of waves that have tickled my toes, while #129 looks like what it feels like when wind tosses my hair around. I would love to hike to the top of that cloud mountain, and #131 is an absolute favorite.
Hans, Sailing is deliciously surreal! I should like to have that scene continue in my dreams.
