Elif Yalvaç is a 27-year-old sound artist based in Turkey, currently pursuing her MA in Sonic Arts at Istanbul Technical University. This piece comes from her Cloudscapes EP, each track of which is named after a rare cloud: Lenticularis, Castellanus, Nacreous, Pyrocumulus, Asperitas and Mammatus.
Elif lost her father in 2013 to a heart attack. She released the EP on the 3rd anniversary of his passing, dedicating it to him. “The grief process is the hardest for all of us,” says Elif, “but when you get to see that your beloved one is everywhere, including the clouds, you don’t have to suffer so much.”
