Cloudspotting 3: How to Become an Expert Cloudspotter

This course is your ticket to becoming an expert cloudspotter. Following on from our courses on How to Spot the Ten Main Clouds and How to Spot Cloud Species and Varieties, it consists of 4 parts, each with a video of around 20-minutes and each with a quiz to help embed your learning. This course will teach you how to recognise and identify a whole range of cloud features as well as several rare and fleeting formations that only seasoned cloudspotters ever notice. Not only will you learn to spot these special formations, you will also learn about how they form, from the dramatic breaking-wave shaped cloud features known as fluctus to the extreme-altitude formations like noctilucent clouds, which can be spotted up near the fringes of Space.

On finishing this course and passing the cloudspotting quizzes you will be able to download your own Cloud Appreciation Society certificate showing that you’ve completed our course in becoming an Expert Cloudspotter.

Cloudspotting 2: How to Spot Cloud Species & Varieties

Take the next step in becoming an expert cloudspotter. This course, which follows on from our course How to Spot the Ten Main Clouds, consists of 4 x 20-minute videos, each with quiz questions to help embed your learning. It will teach you how to recognise and identify all of the many species and varieties of cloud. You can think of these as subdivisions of the ten main types of cloud. Some relate to the particular cloud shapes, some to patterns in the elements of a cloud, among other characteristics.

Learning the species and varieties can help you understand the hidden movements of winds in our atmosphere and can, in some cases, help you forecast the weather in store.

On finishing this course and passing the cloudspotting quizzes you will be able to download your own Cloud Appreciation Society course completion certificate.

Cloudspotting 1: How to Spot the Ten Main Clouds

Your journey to become an expert cloudspotter begins here, by learning the ten main types of cloud. This course of 4 x 15-minute videos, each with quiz questions to help embed your learning, will teach you the distinctive characteristics of each of the ten main cloud types and how to distinguish between them. You will learn to look up at any sky and know which of the main cloud types are present. Looking up will never be the same again!
