Ted Burrows, friend of Alexia Smith (Member 49,439), described this sky he spotted over Lexington, Virginia, US as ‘a cloud having a bad hair day’. The untamed locks are Cirrus spissatus, dense plumes of falling ice crystals. The cloud that is seemingly in need of a comb is a small Cumulus, or Cumulus humilis. It is in fact way below the Cirrus and just happens to be lined up in front of it. Let’s hope no offence was taken.
